Moving to Minnesota today where to play

I am moving From the south Chicago suburbs to Minnesota today, I will be in Little Falls till July 24, then relocating to the Eden Prairie area for the foreseeable future. I like to play bar box pool, but also enjoy the big tables. I have played leagues but don't know how they will fit with work for a while. Have played ACS, BCA, And APA.

What is the pool scene like? where are the best/worst places to play? How about local tournaments? Where is information found. I am not trying to take advantage of anyone, not a big gambler, but like to play cheap sets.

Thank you in advance for the information.

Rich

closest: shooters in Burnsville, very nice large room, (9ft gc)(8ft gc)(1 diamond 9)(7ft. diamonds)tournaments wed handicapped big table 9 ball/mon big table open 9 ball, quiet

Farmington billiards: nice room 9ft gc, 10ft snooker table, diamond bb, quiet

two stooges: large room, 9ft gabriels, diamond bb, sat. bb 9ball open, sun. bb 8ball open, loud weekend atmosphere

Cr billiards: 1 9ft diamond, diamond bb/4 pro cut, Friday bb 8ball open, karoke/bands/bingo on weekends

Jimmys pro billiards: 9ft diamond, 9ft gc, bb diamonds all pro cut, 3c unheated, 12 snooker table, no tournaments weekly, quiet

Biffs: bb diamonds, 4 pro cut, maybe Friday handicapped 8ball, quiet usually

kato cue club: 9ft diamonds, bb diamonds, fri bb 8ball handicapped, quiet

Plenty of people to gamble cheap with and a great area to enjoy pool. Many very good pool room owners who love the game, decent food, good daily specials. Check the rooms websites or facebook for more. Billiardcoach.com is a good local forum. All the rooms are good no really best/worst just different atmospheres. A few local bars and Brunswick zones with 4-10 valleys around that are not as good for tournaments or gambling but I would stick to the poolrooms listed and you cant go wrong.

Find the "on the road with perfect aim" by genomachino. Go to the last few pages of posts. He is staying in Minneapolis area and he is saying pool scene up there is some of the strongest in the country. And there literally is a tourney you can get into every nite of the week. He talks about every pool room and bar and where they are located. Would be perfect info for ya. Hope that helps. :)

Rich- if you want to play on 9fters, the only real, and beet option is shooters in Burnsville. During the day, there's even some of the guys playing straight pool. At night, there's always action and mini tournaments. Craig, the owner, is a wonderful human being. They have 65 tables. Huge room

If you are looking to only play on bar boxes, CRs is THE place. All the big Minnesota tournaments are held there. It's where Shane plays when he's in town. Only 1 9fter in the place, for him to practice on. Always has action to either watch or play.

The best players in Minnesota frequent these two rooms.

Vikes team likes to play at Brunswick zone in EP and they enjoy playing for drinks or cheap games :). Brunswick only has 8 footers, and have 7 or 8 tables.

good summary here...

Dont forget mike page and fargo billiards ( probably the nicest room in the us of a) if you feel like a little drive.

St Cloud

Ducks Billiards in St Cloud is the closest bar/pool hall. Ducks has 6or8 valley bar tables and a Gold Crown challenge table next to the bar, great regulars and ownership. Runs monthly tournaments starting in the fall.
