after 29 straight hours scott frost beat preacher ronn in a one-pocket game that i couldn't have imagined. even my mom and dad watched some of it today.

but more than the game, what i'm learning ( and what you vets of the pool community already know) is about the heart and character of the combatants.

and the part i loved the most? how gracious ronn and scott were to each other after the game. and --- exhausted as they were, they both had the same perspective and sense of history -- they realized they had been participants in a classic!

now, the embarrassing life lesson that i took away? well, the only reason i'm even aware of pool is because my bf and i bought a loft and a pool table (no pockets!) came with it.

so, we agreed to learn some pool stuff and i, condescendingly, thought -- ok, this can be sort of fun in a 'drinking down' kind of way. meet some characters, learn some new social mores, etc.

being a slow student, it took me some time to grasp how genuinely nice so many are. the players, the commentators (lenny, get some beers and then some sleep!) and the chatters. of course there are some jerks out there -- the scientific definition of a jerk is anyone with whom i disagree -- but what a welcoming fellowship it is!

sincerely, your humbled scribe,

sunny

Top notch class!

After watching 26 of almost 30 hours of incredible one pocket by both competitors and being genuinely impressed by the play of both there was one move that glimmered more than any other I was blessed to witness...

After such a long grind session with so much invested, (too bad either of these two had to lose), Preacher Ronn says the following to all of us internet sweaters who were privledged to see the show, "hey guys, thanks for eveything, but I've gotta get outta here...I'M TAKING MY WIFE OUT TO EAT, then going home to get some sleep!" Ronn, you play one fine game of one pocket, but it's obvious that you are even better of a man than player for sure. Most impressive indeed.

Anyway, my congratulations to the Freezer, some of the best outs I've ever seen!
My condolences to Ronn, it was one fine effort sir!
Thanks to Lenny for puttin' it out there for free as well, great work!

WOW, what a beautifull match! Best I've seen in a LONG time! Kudos to all involved most certainly!

Nice sentiment sunny. I agree. Pool and the people in it are more upscale than its reputation would suggest. And that was definitely a legendary match.
