Must have items

Say you’re getting back into pool and you have nothing. What items, beside the sticks obviously, are must haves for your new case

Tip shaper / scuffer and chalk.

Optional:

Powder or a glove if you sweat or if it is humid where you play

Depending on the size of the tables, you might also need a push on rake and an extension for your cue.

all you need is a stroke.

the rest of that stuff is nonsense which distracts you from this.

Mostly true. But in reality, tips really do get out of shape and need a scuff or two. For that, you can have what you need for the rest of your life for about 20 or 30 bucks. Not too damn bad. And for less than $5 a pop, Tom Hay's ultra skin tips beat the hell out of the $25 and up layered tip crowd.

I always have my Willard`s UFO on my keychain.
Other than that a towel and a microfibre cloth, a small can of ferrule cleaner and a magic eraser sponge.
I prefer to play with a glove, Kamui, Molinari or Mezz all seems to work fine for me.
I don`t really care about the brand of chalk, but a piece or two that you shape the way you like it is a good thing to have.
An extension that can be taken on and off comes in handy a few times in every match or practice session.
A small notepad if you want to chart shots or concepts.
You don`t really need much more.

This post reminds me of those What's In the Case segments by Inside Pool, which has a cool opening theme.

You can keep it simple like Efren Reyes and carry a piece of sandpaper, cool pool tip, Masters chalk, baby powder and ointment.

Absolute must haves:
- shaper/scuffer
- Glove or powder
- Q-wiz or light sandpaper, if you're not shooting with a glove.

i haven't scuffed a tip in 5 years, through multiple tips, and they're perfect dimes. if you chalk right, You Do Not Need That Crap.

if you chalk like Dechaine, then yeah, you're gonna need help.

agree on Tom's tips 100%.

Take a Magic Eraser and cut into small pieces. Great for getting chalk blue off your ferrule.

Aside from the typical "pool" stuff - eye drops and anything you may need for aches and pains. Arthritis, joints, muscle, etc. And wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

I don't take anything but a cue. No jump cue, no bridge, no chalk, no extension, no glove, no powder (anyone who uses powder should be shot--use a glove if you have sweaty hands), no cue cleaner, no magic eraser....

Oh, I do take my own cueball.

Tip shaper (lots to choose from)

Chalk (any brand will suffice) & Leather Chalk Pouch

Talc (Joe Porper Dispenser)i instead of Baby Powder

Kamui Leather Bridge (or equivalent)

Eye Drops & Finger Nail Clipper & Band Aids
