My Defy shaft😝

I sold him that shaft and this is the first problem any of my customers has ever had with any McDermott products.

I am 100% sure McDermott will remedy this to his satisfaction.

I do have a customer who returns his shaft to McDermott about every 18 months and gets his tip replaced. He has nothing but praise for his experiences with them.

I have sent older C and D line cues back for refinishing and new shafts. Always a great transaction.

The lady I talked to at McDermott was very nice. I really don’t want that shaft back so I’m hoping that I can upgrade to the new version. When I look at the insert there’s very little glue on it and I can’t see any inside. I know stuff happens and I’m sure McDermott will take care of it

IMO, the McDermott Defy shaft is McDermott’s worst failure. I own a gen1, gen2 and gen3. I would have to count them to be precise but I also own more than a dozen McDermott cues. My gen1 Defy is all but useless due to the coating coming off the cue. The gen2 shaft, that was replaced due to the vault plate/ferrule breaking, is also useless due to the coating cracking. The gen3 is fine and hasn’t failed yet. McDermott, as has been stated, will give me a gen3 for the two shafts but it will cost me $150 each. I have already given McDermott around $1,200 to have one useable shaft. To say McDermott will “make things right” is absolutely not true. They got in so deep with the bad gen1 and gen2 shafts they aborted their good customer service. Personally, I feel cheated by them.

Buy those two shafts. Sell them on eBay and help pool players who really would like a Defy shaft. Since the shafts would be new and the latest generation, see below for proof you probably (and eBay) would make a dollar off of it.

That still wouldn’t be McDermott making things right. I will sell both bad shafts to you, for what I paid, and you can trade them, plus $300, for two gen3 shafts. Then do the eBay hustle “to help pool players who really would like a Defy shaft.” I doubt you will feel like McDermott did their fair share in that transaction.

I tend to share some agreement here. IF the gen 1/2 shafts had/have such a known issue with the coating...Why would you charge your customers to remedy something that should have been right in the first place?
I'm not knocking the folks at McDermott, but it does seem to be a fair question.
