My Fancy Tascarella Hoppe with ivory inlays, never used

To round out my cues, my dream Tascarella Hoppe will be here in a day or two. Wonder if this will displace my Jerry Bushka that I've been playing daily.

Been thinking if I should order another shaft(s) since I had preferred playing with 12.3 - 11.75 tip diameter. Recently been more flexible about this though since I have multiple size shafts to play with on the Scruggs cue and trying them out. (One thing I start feeling now that things are easier and more natural, the tools doesn't matter as much as my focus and concentration.) Not certain but if i do this, do I need to send back the butt in order to do this or could I simply buy a used shaft with matching rings and it would match up perfectly for Tascarella?

Thanks Kirby!

I was kind of thinking of this and knew I will get some information from here. Thanks for jumping in and letting me know. Fortunately, that wasn't too important for me as I am not into collecting but playing with them. However, it does leave a little sour taste since I am a man of my word and that was not honest from the seller.

Anyhow, that is a great looking cue you had previously owned and very happy to be owning it now.

Please PM me if you have any more specific information of this cue that I am missing and any documents would be nice as well.

Cheers,
Hugh

Sold this, then raffled on facebook. Last time I saw it was on ebay. I'm positive it's the cue. Solid hitting cue for sure. Nice pickup.

To bad.. New and Unused are words and have meaning.. Luckily you're a player, if this was news to me, after I purchased it would be going back ASAP. I would also let everyone in on who the embellisher is..

Agreed. Truth be told, I would be playing it the second it was delivered and be stuck on the table for the next 5-10 hours. New and Unused in caps and repeated a number of times is supposed to mean something and quite significant. In this case, not sure if the seller actually new either way, I am asking to see what they say. But thanks to Kirby for the extra information and all, I think I'm fine with it but it just "not the right thing to do".

Here's the only rub I can see.

If the cue was advertised as new, and it's apparently now known to be used,
did you pay a price reflective of a new, unused cue which would understandably
be higher than the price for a used cue even if it was in tip top condition, regardless
of whether the cue was made by Pete or any other cue-maker for that matter.

If you are happy with the price you paid, then it shouldn't matter since it was your
intention to play with the cue. Consequently, it was becoming a used cue pretty
much right you received it and so you'd be exactly where you are right now. Only
you can say how pleased you are and after reflecting on this, if you feel the price
deserved adjustment, approach the seller about a refund, unless, of course, you
mistakenly assumed the cue was new and unused.

The bottom-line is your now own a gorgeous Tascarella cue that would be a used
cue by this point in time anyway. It's a gorgeous cue and I hope you are happy.

i have what i thought was the nicest Tascarella ever,
but yours is possibly better looking
mine was unhit when i bought it ,but i could not resist the temptation to hit it

your cue is really pretty and having been played doesn't affect the value as far as i am concerned

pretty cue, contact me if you decide to sell it

Sweet cue either way.
Tasc is one of the few cues that the price is gonna be close, played or unplayed(if its still in new condition) Still a crappy thing to do saying unplayed when its not.

I believe most of the "unplayed" cues have hit some balls anyway, maybe without chalk. Does it really matter? What if the cuemaker hits balls with every cue he makes, is it still new? Cars with zero miles have been driven by the factory, is that the same?

Thank you Matt, Dean, and Jason!

Been in communication with seller and I believe them that they really didn't know any difference and took it out to take pictures only. I am satisfied with the price paid as well.

Eager to receive and start playing with it!

Cheers,
Hugh

Also, according to Kirby's note previously, this is a *full splice* cue. Haven't played with one of those so excited about that too.

Just took delivery and took a minute only to have a quick look. It looks fantastic. Will play with it later and have a thorough look through.

Cheers

Couldn't wait that long so went and play for about 20 minutes. This cue hits great. Now I know what it means to have the compression joint, definitely feels the difference as I am tightening up the shaft to the butt. Also, with the first hit not only it hits very solid, first sense I have is, wow, this feels like a single solid cue - probably the compression joint, full splice, Hoppe style, not sure . . . but feels great.

I usually give it 20 hours to start to know the cue, that's my break in period.
