Just wanted to post some pics on my first sneaky that I made. I know it is not elaborate as some peoples but hey its an accomplishment and I plan to get on to more elaborate...lol. Anyway it did turn out to have a great hit and I love the feel. I made the cue with zebra wood joint collars, 3/8x10 pin, laminate shaft, and triangle tip. Anyway hope everyone has a had a good weekend. Here are some pics of the cue.

With cars and bikes, the saying is, "If it don't go, chrome it."
Don't worry about leaving off the "chrome"; the specs on that one make me think it will go. My kind of cue.

Thanks for the reply and yeah I just wanted to make one that was simple. It does indeed hit great and gives good cue ball control with the triangle tip. I like the feel of the cue with the wood joint collars and you don't see that as often...so it was a good simple cue in my book. I plan on maybe selling a few simple ones at first and then I will move on up to chroming them out....lol.

Don't ever sell it cause you'll regret bit if you do!

You know I thought about that....and think you might be right. I am going to sell some sneakies and plan on making some others with ring work and such, then move on to other styles of cues....but something does intrigue you about that first one lol.

good job

you done a great job on that cue . it just looks like it would have a good hit. not bad at all. johnqbs anderson sc

Nice cue. Do you notice much difference in the hit with the wood joint collar compared to the black plastic (phenolic??) type?

Nice sneaky pete. Did you make also make the blank?

Thank you for the kind comment and no I did a house cue conversion and tapered everything down to where I wanted it. I then did the joint work and chose to go with wood joints. I do plan on making blanks eventually however. Just taking my time and making sure I have quality construction on things before I go jumping ahead of myself lol.

Thank you, and in my opinion yes I feel a difference. Explaining a hit of a cue is a subjective matter to start with but I do feel that there is a difference. A hit comes from a combination of things however such as tapers, tips, ferrules, and such. But to me the cue was a great combination, and gave me a nice solid hit.

I heard a story that George Balabushka used to go around to poolhalls and ask if they had any broken house cues. After the quality of Brunswick Titlists went down, he later started buying full spliced blanks from Burton Spain and Gus Szamboti. So, if you have an eye picking for wood (house cues as blanks), your time may be better spent developing that talent than making blanks from scratch.

Concentrate on what you're good at, and try to be the best.

Thank you, and I agree. Good house cues can be found you just have to focus on finding ones that you feel would make good cues. I bought mine at a local pool hall and in this batch I bought, I am only using 5 out of about 20. But its worth it to get those five good cues out of it. Making blanks would be something I would love to do in time, but like you said I am focusing on one thing at a time. It makes more sense to take steps instead of just jumping into things lol.

Grown up men

Nice to see some here able to keep their differences or misunderstands private.

No drama queens here

Thanks and I agree. We worked things out in private conversation and more people should take the time to do so. Misunderstandings can occur with anyone and sometimes just having a civil conversation is the best way to solve a problem.

I agree there....were like BFF's now.
lol...
were cool.

I like it. I've always had a soft spot for nice clean SP. Especially with a nice wood joint.

It's right up my alley. Someday, I'll strole down that alley and make my own. Alas.... not right now.

Good on you!
