Well we just got home from the BCA in Lost Wages. I will only report on my observations about the event. But it should also be noted I went up to look see and DID NOT PLAY.
First off if you ever go to Los Wages I highly Recommend that you avoid Circus Circus. We stayed there, yes it is directly across the street from the street the Riviera.
IMO Circus Circus is like MOTEL ONE POINT FIVE, and I would say the entire place is in need of a MAJOR REMODELING/CLEANING/PAINTING. Next time I will spring for another $40.00 a Night and Stay in One of the BETTER Places on the Strip, or Off STRIP. Circus Circus is a DUMP IMO.
Like I said I went up to see the events, and check out the VENDORS, and I was like a Kid in a Candy Store.
Cues, Cases, and Accessories were every where, and I to see first hand many thing I have only seen in Catalogs, or the on Web-sites.
I was the most impress by Cuemaker Dan Dishaw's work. Dan's Cues are ART IMO. Dan’s work impress me the most of all the Cuemakers there.
Dan had one Cue that was Snakewood, Tiger Maple, and Ivory and if I had the extra money I would have bought it.
Add to the mix Cue Dealers like Omega, and the Connoisseur of Cues who had some real nice stuff also in the booths also. Like PFD's TADS, Southwesst, etc., etc., etc., that made me DROOL.
Case were everywhere from El Chepos, to the like of the top of the line makers like Jack Justis, and Ron Thomas Cases. Jack Justis had a Gray Alligator Embossed Case that was a 2 x 4 that was a real eye catcher with all the Bell & Whistle Jack can put in a CASE. Think it was only 900 Bills. (VBG)
There were a couple of dealers with NEW Talisman Cases, and I personally feel if you got one of the "OLD" Talisman you should keep it as the companies QC appear to be not what it was.
The one observation I will make about some of the Dealers/Vendors selling Small Accessories their prces were very high. I would Plan Ahead and Buy what you Need before going to the BCA, and I saw some CRAZY Prices on Small Accessories like $14.00 for a Willard is KOO KOO IMO.
I personally bought a AcCueShot Stroke Trainer (www.AcCueShot.com) as I was impressed by the Stroke Trainer.
We were there Wednesday, and Thursday and too my disappointment sever of the Vendor had already packed up and when home. Could not find the X-Breaker Folks.
But like I said I was like a Kid in a Candy Store, with too much Candy, and a little short of Candy Money thanks to Truck Thieves who got my Truck the day before I left for the BCA.
Watched a few matches, and never made it too see the Pro as Funds were short.
Another Tip for those Planning to go to the BCA. Get a Small Ice Chest for Cold Drinks, as the good folk at the Riviera were selling Small Bottlers of Water, and 12 OZ Soft Drinks in Cans for $2.50. I call that a Total RIP OFF.
Think I would like to go back Next Year, but I will go earlier in the event, and avoid Circus Circus.
