I'm not a programmer, but since I'm guessing we have people from all walks of life here..........

.......is it possible for an App to be created for a smartphone/handheld device that would allow you to plot shots/scenarios/sequences?

Someone, in another thread, mentioned that they used a simple pocket notebook to record shots during competition. But, what about something handheld that could be used at the table, without dragging a laptop out. Things it could record would be:

Examples:

table size
type of English used
strength of shot [soft, medium, hard]
type of game [8,9,10-ball, straight pool, 1-pocket]
outcome of shot
notes section
etc. etc.

That way you could go back and recreate the shot in practice without having to remember all the details.

I'm thinking that with the touchscreen interface on devices such as the iPad, one could plot the location of the cueball.....along with all other balls on the table to recreate a sequence.

There's probably a lot of uses for this and wouldn't be THAT difficult for a programmer to come up with.

Has anyone thought of this? I know I'd pay a nominal fee to buy a Pool/Billiards app like I've described.

You could have at the top of the screen all of the balls.....from cue ball to the 1-15. You click the ball......it flashes....and then you just "drop it" to the desired place on the computer-generated table.

Am I crazy? Does something like this exist? Anyone here have the knowledge to create this? It might not be super practical for a tournament, but I'm sure if someone was quick to put in the info they needed and didn't use it for every single shot in the world that they saw......it wouldn't slow the game down much. Just used here and there when a unique situation came along or something that tends to be a trouble issue for the player.

Toss some ideas out there guys!

Not as detailed as your description but still functional to record shot positions
