My IPT opinion!

Admitedly I am a bit confused. Just a couple of weeks ago the tour was sold or invested in or whatever and now all of the sudden everyone is saying it is closing down?

I guess this is why I don't read much of these threads, there are too many rumours floating around. And I can't always decipher truth from rumour.

I can certainly see why Kevin Trudeau says he has never seen "so many people enthusiastically negative in my life." Someone posted where you can listen to the whole meeting. Instead of doing this a number of people mention "things that were said, etc." that simply don't exist.

He talks about how not every business in sports works and gives a number of examples and then states "there are no guarantees this is going to work"..."the only guarantee is we are committed to making it work".

You might notice how this is quite a bit different than what some posters put up on here based on hearsay rather than taking the time to listen.

I have my own doubts about the whole IPT but I hope Trudeau is correct in saying the "enthusiastically negative" are proven "wrong and a bunch of losers."

He certainly sounded less educated than i thought he would-a little short on class as well. However he did not sound to me like a guy who was getting ready to stiff everyone either. I think tomorrow is a key day. Some checks should have gone out on Friday or Saturday and that should certainly have some arriving Tuesday in the Midwest anyway. The silence is pretty deafening but still I wouldn't feel confident betting either way. Soon we will know.

Did you notice there was almost no applause when he was speaking? I got the feeling the players had heard the BS before and were less impressed. KT even sounded like he didn't believe what he was saying, he kept repeating himself and stuttering when making his points. He kept saying there was so much going on you players don't know about. I think that is what they were waiting to hear but it must be a secret I guess.

Kind of ridiculous what he said about the players basically going door to door trying to promote the IPT. This is supposed to be a multi million sports show with top professionals, not a bunch of high school kids trying to pay for a field trip. It sounded kind of sad and desperate.

Funny, I never got any of this from hearing him talk. I think he went into a great deal of what is going on (whether it is true or not I don't know), he talked about Vonage and the Dish network being taken on as sponsors. He mentioned that there were over 100 other sponsors all over the world wanting to sign on and gave some of the general areas involved. He talked about Ho and his involvement.

If you mean he didn't go into all of the specific details and that is what you refer to as secret then you are correct. However, if what he generalized on is true it may have taken him several hours or longer to lay out all the specifics.

Whenever I post something that has been said to me by someone else that I haven't witnessed myself, I always try to remember to make sure I let people know that. I don't ever want someone thinking I would try to intentionally pass something I've been told as hearsay to be factual. Contrary to some peoples ideas about me, I do try to be honest and post responsibly.

I'll make you a promise... if the players get paid, I'll listen to the meeting.

He hit that point for a good several minutes and I found that the funniest part of all. Where is all this the negative stuff he was talking about? This board that has no significance at all. Are you telling me he was addressing this board with his remarks? Who was he talking about?

He spent more time with that crap then addressing something solid the players really wanted to hear about. Was he trying to say I told you so to a bunch of people who kill a few hours posting to a meaningless internet board?

He can't keep saying the same vague things over and over, he at some point has to give some specifics. This is all really a mute point anyway since he said he no longer controls the IPT so what now? I would like to have seen the players faces when he casually toss out that little nugget.

Try to imagine you were good enough to have won money at this event but you lose out on Wednesday but you know if you hang around you will be paid on Sunday. So you make an extra booking to stay, Sunday comes and theres no light at the end of the tunnel. Would you be so diligently taking Kevin T's side in all this? Seriously, now tell the truth!!

All we are asking for is an explanation to all this, so why do you get your back up when people question this event?

Don't you see it's wrong to charge a $2000 fee outright then can't get paid on announced date.

I listened to that tape and it sounded like it's full of promises, Kevins paints a nice picture.

Somewhere along the way, I was led to believe that OLN was going to broadcast the IPT. I thought I'd read that the IPT was going to do for OLN, what poker did for the Travel Channel & ESPN. I saw the KOH on OLN, but I've spent the last 30 minutes surfing around OLN and I haven't been able to find any mention of the IPT, Vegas or Reno. Has the IPT signed with some other TV network ? What's the current status of Vegas & Reno matches and television broadcast ? Are the matches only available on the IPT website ?

i think the ipt is very,very unorganized and extremly unprofessional,and have no clue on where it is and where it should go,however,i think it's gonna be around for a very very long time,and i might add, it will be a big success. i think maybe only 7 or so players will benifit from it, and the rest will be just trotting along side it huffing and puffing, but i believe it will be around for a long time and have major television success.

Somehow, I can't imagine Lee Iococca, Colin Powell even George Steinbrenner making a public statement like that because of some healthy, and probably, well deserved criticism. Sounds pretty low class.

I think there is a very good chance you will get banned from the IPT if they become aware of your rantings. Probably, at this point with your dismal record you are hoping this is the case so as to save you from any further embarrassment.

In all seriousness, beyond the promises what have you seen that would lead you to believe that? It just seems improbable it can continue to exist without substantial income. What is even the basis for it's existence? I could see it underwritten by someone who doesn't care about profits just the betterment of the sport, that was sort of the way KT originally presented himself, sort of like a patron of the arts.

It seems to have changed though and the need for outside money became a goal, quite different then what was originally presented by KT. I have a feeling now they would take money from anyone, even beer companies or cigarettes and all that health stuff is out the window.

Actually, this is not a bad idea at all. The players are the ones who stand to benefit from the success of the tour. Why wouldn't they want to get out and promote it? After all, they are the product.

Do you remember when the soccer world cup was held here. Those girls were out hitting soccer camps and schools promoting the event. Who would have ever thought the US could fill a stadium with soccer fans? And do you think it could have happened if the players just sat back and waited for it?

If I were an IPT player, I would be out in the local pool rooms on league night, talking to the players, informing them about the IPT, tv schedules, and whatever else I could to build up interest. I would be handing out flyers, shaking hands, maybe even giving some tips to the league players. KT has the players dreaming of becoming "stars". But unless they are doing something to help build a fan base, it will never happen.

The average league night in a pool room probably has 50 players. There are 150 IPT Pros. If EVERY pro took just 4 nights to do something like this, they could reach 30,000 potential fans. And believe me, if the league players had met some of the pros, they would probably have a much greater interest in the tour.
