you know its kind of funny all the people who reply to this great cue are missing how great it is . look the maple recut at the bottom of the point how did he get the maple in there I looked at it for ever and don't quite know. don't even come back unless you build and splice cues..............
way off, way to easy not even close . look at the pics that show the lower end of the points . the points were cut and than maple was added in between this is not easy. if a maple ring was added it would be maple all the way around , black was added a piece maple in between.Great workmanship and design!
As for the maple you mentioned, I believe a thick maple ring was sleeved at the bottom of the points before doing the final recut with the ebony point. This gives a boxed impression (not the mitered type). I believe this is te only way the maple got there![]()
if you go back to the pics and look just adding maple seams easy ''not'' don't for get the veneers are dead even et the bottom , how did that happen you can try to glue them that way but you will fail.....

I believe I see it rather differently. The mitered points look is due to the overlapping of the point woods during recut process, it appears to me that they are not the same as the 45 degree mitered veneer points where they are exactly at the middle but rather similar to mitered using the overlap technique. Again this is just my humble opinion and may differ from the norm:smile:
