My Mosconi Cup Daydream

This was my first Mosconi Cup although not in person, I watched it on the web through live streaming.

And my conclusion is:

Now this is what pool in America can be, electrifying entertainment. Wow what an exciting tourney. I feel the

crowd is one key. Sure you need the great match ups and high caliber play but what put it over the top

for me was the all engaging crowds participation. That hall was great and made the table the center of the arena and it looked as if everyone there had a good view.

Looked like there was plenty of eating and drinking going on just like at an APA league night. With all the whooping

and hollering I felt I was watching a sport like hockey, football, etc. (having just the one table(field) I think is key also).

Which got me to daydreaming.

Major cities with 5-10 man/women traveling teams, playing weekly in halls/arena, packed to the gills with

screaming, hollering, food stuffing, beer guzzling pool fanatics while being streamed on the web to bars, pool halls, everywhere.

Imagine going to your league night and watching your cities team play in another town on the tube. What a dream, crazy, sure, would be fun though.

Cheers to team USA, on a valiant effort. Can’t wait till next year.

American players taught some of Europe's best players

I can't wait until next year also. It hasn't been that long ago that the US pool players were so dominant that Europe didn't stand a chance, but things have changed today. Some of the changes have come about from some of the Europeans learning to play from the Americans. I heard that Ralf Souquet came over here and stayed with Jim Rempe and got personal lessons from Jim. Ralf even resembles Jimmy when he's playing with his mannerisms around the table. We can thank our own players for helping the Europeans get to where they are today and they learned well.
