I just received this Cognoscenti Ebony PJ from Joe Gold on New Year's eve. I am definitely a fan of th hit on this cue. Simply a solid player that is like a surgeon's scalpel when going in to operate. :) Hope you enjoy the pic's, you can really see some of the amazing Ebony put into this cue and Joe's flawless finish work.

Great cue

Joe makes a great cue and is a class act all the way. If you havent tried a Cognoscenti you should. Joe put a lot of time in researching the makeup of a cue before he started making them. He was also a hell of a player so he knows what "hits good".

I honestly can't feel the difference in length. That was a concern at first but once I thought about it a half inch is not that that much difference, just matter of a little adjustment.
I asked Joe Gold why he only makes a standard 57.5 inch cue and nothing longer or shorter. His answer was even a half inch longer would changed the hit. Besides length he was whiling to change the thickness of the butt, I had him take it down at the joint collar from .850' to .840 which takes .01 ' off of the hole cue. The thickness came out perfect. He also made the cue lighter for me.

Nice cue.

I think the new black pins look really sharp.

I wonder how much better they play now with the shorter, Hunter style "Point and shoot" ferrules?

Congrats on your new Cog!

Great cue. I recently played with a cog and loved the hit........... however with me being 6'4 i need a 59 or 60 inch cue.

Ditto...

Very simple but awesome cue! I'm a sucker for Merry Widows. But I as well need a 59 1/2 - 60 inch cue.

What thread type is that G-10 pin?

And B&W fleck linen is icky IMO, but that's an easy fix. Maybe stingray...hehe.

I'd love to try it out all the same!

From what I understand it is a 7/16 - 11 G-10 pin, Joe Gold also offers the same pin in Titanium. I am a leather wrap person myself and never liked speckled linen but I do admit that the black with white speckles in person goes really well with the silver stitching. I am going to play with the wrap for a little while and see if I can get use to it, if I don't end up wanting to keep the linen wrap I will get a stacked leather wrap from tiger put on.

Joey's cues are not only great players but constructed to precision specs. can't go wrong with one no way..............
