My new cue

the game is all about fun
Finally got my custom cue from Paul Dayton today. I'll post pictures soon. Just want to say that the finish is great, points sharp and it plays great (wish I did but that's another issue ;) ). Only one minor issue with the cue, one of the 4 points is 1/8" longer than the other 3. I'm not unhappy about it because he did these points by hand and I figure it gives it its own personality. Maybe I'm being too laid back about it but it is a beautiful cue and hits a ton.

Many posts about cues refer to the cue as "it hits a ton". What does this mean?

1/8 of an inch is acceptable and will have no effect on the future value of the cue. You must have looked very hard to spot that small difference. Cues with spliced point will almost always vary a little if you actually measure them but it should not be noticeable to the eye. Inlayed points are always perfect since they are of course inlays. As you cut the cue on a spliced butt the points get shorter till the butt is at the finished size. If all the groves are perfect and the points glued in well they should move (shorten) together as you cut, but can change slightly at times and because they come to a point of infinity if a tiny piece of the tip comes off in turning one may be a hair shorter. Either way, if it is not easily visible to the naked eye I would call it a very good job.
