Here are some pics of 2 cues I recently purchased. I have loved Schon cues since the mid 80s and Bob Runde is one of my favorite Cue Makers. Please let me know what you think of my cues :D

Also, if anyone would happen to know the model # of the Schon and approximate year it was made I would appreciate the help. Maybe someone collects old catalogs and can tell me

Thanx

The cues are awesome, how does the Runde play in comparison to the Schon.

As others, I love the Runde cue.

Was it made especially for you and, if so, did you have a say in the design?

My Runde

I love the hit of the Runde. It hits softer than any cue I have played with. I like the Schon, but the Runde hits much better. I bought the Cue used, if you price Rundes with this much Detail (and ivory)they go for $2,000 - $2,500 or more retail. I got this one on Ebay for quite a bit less.

I was amazed when the bidding was between me and one other guy and he didnt go after it (only bid minimum). I guess you can say I got lucky. A week later a 4 point Runde went for about the same price and had like close to 20 bidders.

As a lesson to any who put high priced cues on Ebay start low, the guy who listed this cue started with a $1,500 price tag of didnt get too many people looking... It went for a little over his minimum. The guy that sold the 4 point cue started lower and got the same price for a lower retail cue. Its all about traffic... maybe the second guy advertised his auction on this site too...lol!!!

Nice Runde I had a Southwest cue I thought till I was told it was a Kersenbrock imagine my surprise keep buying the sharp looking cues.

Kersenbrock vs. Southwest

How did the person know it was Kersenbrock?

Thats my boy messing with me... Actually the DPK he is refering to is mine... I bought from a local dealer who said it was a Jery Franklin Southwest. I sent it to Southwest to have it authenticated and refurbished. When Laurie looked at it she said that she was sure Jerry didnt build it, and that it was either a DPK or a knockoff. She said she wouldnt be able to tell unless she took the wrap off.

I had no problem with this because the wrap was in rough shape anyway. She kept me waiting until the next day, but then told me it was a 1970s DPK and that she would authenticate it and refurbish it. It is still at Southwest because they are backed up as i am sure your aware. I should get it back in like 2 months or so.

When I get it back I will post pics.

Good story! IMO, Laurie Franklin is the only person I would trust in these Southwest/Kersenbrock identifications.

Fred, just curious why that is ??????????

Yea, bummer. lol. Drat. Its the kind of thing you hear about happening, but I never thought it would ever go in my favor...

To tell you the truth I didn't really know that much about top end cues and hadn't even heard much about SW Cues until "LILBUKKA" (from a little earlier in this thread) and I saw this cue at a pool hall. It has a cocobolo forearm and birseye points, a large cocobolo band and small birseye band in butt, but no ring pattern on but like most if not all SW cues.

When we saw the cue for sale I was in the market more for a cue like the runde I bought later (in this thread). It took Lil Bukka a while to convince me that i should buy it. I was pretty nervous because after i did research and saw that almost all Southwest cues have the ring pattern on the butt. I was pretty skeptical. The playability of the cue and the beauty of the woods is what finally made me decide to make the purchase.

The dealer said the cue was pre-owned by Tommy Karabostos (top 10 pro at one time) and he has a pool hall/restaurant in Chicago (g-Cue) so I took it to him to verify. He said that it was a SW and that he had owned it like 10 years ago.

I dont blame them for being mistaken as there arent any identifying marks on the outside of the cue whatsoever. I am just glad that things worked out.

When I bought this cue I also bought a Justis Case and had them put the SW Cues logo on it... so I am either going to have to acquire an actual SW cue or sell the case... lol. I would hate to continue to misrepresent my DPK.

Here is a similar DPK Designed cue from Dr. Wu's collection to the one I bought... As I said I will post actual pics when I get cue back.

The only real difference is that the woods in the butt are reversed in my cue... Cocobolo is the large section, birdseye in the small section
