Leonard Mallari does a lot of work on cues around the DC/Virginia/MD area and he builds custom cues. I've seen him doing stuff for years, but once I hit balls with a shaft he made I had to get one of his cues.
So, I ordered the players cue that has always been in my mind to try out. Leonard and I were in the pool room last year and I drew this out on a piece of paper. It has that Martin look/feel to it. Highly figured birdseye maple, joint w/ big pin. Linen wrap that goes all the way down to the buttcap. Plus, we made this bad boy 60" long, 19.5 oz, the shafts have short ivory ferrules w/ kamui tips - and the identical taper to my Predator z2 shaft on my old cue. Leonard took his time getting that taper right.
I only hit a few balls with it last night but was very impressed. Leonard mades a great playing cue, because he is a great player himself. Also included is a photo of the cuemaker himself when dropping off my cue.
