I hope you enjoy that cue. When I ordered it from Gilbert, I sent him a picture of a Szamboti with the same veneer combo and asked him to match it up the best he could. He got very close. The straight grain maple has a nice feel to it and the Hoppe has the Gilbert flare as he chose to add the rings above and below the main ring.

The specs actually came from another Gilbert Hoppe I own that he had for a while that he built new shafts for. The only main differences was this cue was built to be a true bumperless Hoppe (my other has a bumper) and your cue has an awesome stainless steel half joint.

Thanks Matt I'm really liking the cue for sure , still getting used to it , but I really like the looks and feel .

That Gilbert is a dandy. It has the classic lines and a pure player. The straight grained forearm really makes the veneers pop and the Hoppe ring sets the whole cue off perfectly.

Enjoy that cue in good health. Playing with it will up your confidence level and game play.
