My pair of players...Rauenzahn and Phillippi

Hi all,

Had a few moments, and wanted to share some new pics. The pair of cues below are my current players....and GOOD LAWD, YA'LL, THEY PLAY!!! The first is a cue ya'll have already seen...with a twist. My Rauenzahn really plays incredibly. It used to have black leather, which looked really nice, but wasn't quite my "feel" taste for a wrap. I had Rick Phillippi do up a white/brown linen wrap on it (to match one of the veneers). The wrap job is flawless, and feels oh, so sweet. Now I have all the hit of the cue I loved before, with the added bonus of having a wrap I prefer best. I think the end result came out great.

The sneaky is a step or two away from what I usually like...being wrapless and without a steel joint. I never gave it much thought, until I saw the Phillippi sneaky Bamacues had sold last week. I loved how great the handle/point wood looked, and had always been meaning to try out a Phillippi made for me. Well...since Rick is only about 5 minutes away, I looked a few of the sneaky petes over when I picked up the Rauenzahn. I found one in the right weight range, with fantastic woodgrain. He taylored the cue to my desired specs, and the end result is shown below. I hit half a dozen balls with it at Rick's shop, and knew it was a player. Once at home, I took it for an hour spin, and absolutely love how it plays. Draws the ball like nobody's business!!!...and oh, how I do love to draw the ball (still haven't gotten over the novelty of it, I guess).

At any rate, just wanted to share. For those who may not already know, you cannot go wrong with a Rauenzahn. They're great cues. The same can be said for Rick Phillippi. He's a super-nice guy, does fantastic work, and really cares about his customer being happy. A public "Thank You" to both gentlemen for such great cues!!!

BY THE WAY.....STAY TUNED!!! I'VE GOT ONE MORE TOY TO SHARE WITH YA'LL BEFORE I LEAVE FOR A BIT. I'M THINKING PICS SHOULD BE UP AND READY TO GO BY MONDAY OR TUESDAY.

4 hours of table time late last night with the Phillippi...and it just gets better and better. I've enjoyed a TON of cues over the last few years...and this Phillippi is every bit of a real player's cue. Balance, feel, looks, fit and finish...it's all there. Thanks a ton, Rick! Best of luck and business to ya at Valley Forge this year!!!
