ok, i am trying to post some new pics of my side pockets so you guys can see the way the cloth is cut and let me know if you think its not done properly causing balls to pop out.

also some pics of where balls have flown through the paneling when i get frustrated about nothing but bad luck all the time.

i reduced the pic size, hope that helps.

so, men, do the side pockets look like their cut properly?

My friend, you got to stop throwing shit!!!!! My advice is to look at the big picture and don't sweat the little shit. It's the big things in life you need to be concerned about. A punching bag is a one time investment, good for anger management and cheeper than replacing paneling on a regular basis. Hang it in the corner of your pool room.

You are one crazy fella. I can't believe someone would tear their own house up because of some bad luck playing a game. Bad luck is a part of the game you must accept or quit playing. The pockets are fine, you just play bad. I've been reading your posts about your temper tantrums you throw, my question is, How old are you? Do you lack attention? Is that why you share these stupid stories about throwing cue balls through paneling? That, my friend, is crazy. Plain and simple.

If you get 'bad luck' all the time, its not bad luck.

You can place the Qb where you want to or you cant!

Think about it.

errmmm... How about instead of giving him an alternative to relieve this stress and frustration (ie: punching bag), give him motivation and encouragment help overcome this kind of tempermental insanity he's invoking in himself... In the long run it will help him alot more than a punching bag.

You've got to find an alternative way to let out your frustrations man. Because lashing out like an idiot isn't the way. I can't tell you how, but I will tell you what you have to do. You have to be able to turn all this frustration, bad luck, and losing into a driving force and focus on overcoming them. It's not going to be something you do in a week and in your case it's definately not going to be the easiest thing you've ever done in your life. But trust me on this one. Anyone can be a self-motivated person without throwing cueballs through their walls. All this frustration you speak of has to be embraced as a driving force and not something hindering your abilities. You need to take a damn break from pool and just get your head on straight before you even touch the table again because without the right attitude you'll never get outa this shit.

I mean are you really gonna carry your damn punching bag with you to every tournament and pool hall you play in/at?

Oh and btw... your side pockets are the size of a garage... If your having trouble pocketing on a GC go shoot snooker on a 6x12 for a while and you'll be hitting the heart of the pocket every time. But don't even attempt the snooker table until your mentally ready... Potting on a snooker table is much harder...

well, it only allowed me 5 pics. if i would have had one more you would have gotten a pic of where a ball went through the ceiling when i slammed at it real hard with the cue, it flew off the rail and another ball i think, and disappeared straight up. i had no idea where it went. then i spotted the hole in the ceiling, and put 2 and 2 together.

i dont think these pockets are huge. they arent small, but definitely not huge. maybe i'll use my pocket reducers and shoot for awhile.

How does one retrieve the cue ball after it goes through the paneling and drops to the ground? Do you make another hole at the bottom, or do you just buy another CB.

This is the most entertaining thread I've had the pleasure of seeing in a long time.

Excellent posts- all of em!

They may actually be too wide where the angle of the cushion will throw the ball out of the pocket instead of in. On my Diamond I can run on down the rail and hit the outside cushion facing and it will fall in every time but I played on a table in a pool hall the other day where the damn corner pockets were so wide if you ran on down the rail and hit the outside faceing of the pocket it actually would throw it out very strange feeling to be able to make shots easier in smaller pockets. I believe the angle going into the pockets is very important for good consistent play.

DrCP: Can you take a picture of a side and corner pocket, with two balls in the jaws? Then we can get an idea of the size of those pockets.

If the plastic pockets aren't quite set right, you can end up hitting the lip of the plastic and the object ball will bounce right back at you. I've played on a table like that before. Very frustrating. I can't quite tell if your side pockets would do that from the pictures. But, the cut looks quite generous from those pictures.

Is the color off on the pictures, or is the cloth really blue? How about getting some nice green simonis on that lovely Brunswick? :)

cheers,

DR CUE'S PROTEGE: I'm not so sure we should shoot around now! I don't want to be the cause of your temper tantrums! ...because you know that I will win many games! LOL...simmer down now, takes your frustrations out on the pool table, not your walls.

For gods sake... DO NOT take your anger out on your GC.

Dude if you're really worried about your tables bumpers. Try some AMF bumpers. From what i'm told and have found out AMF is the only company that doesn't use fillers in any of their bumpers. From their lowest 7' line to the 72,000$ table they make they use the same bumpers and slate. It's all top notch. Maybe diamond or something along those lines.

But for now... Why don't you just try to improve your cueball control so you won't ever been faced with a really thin cut into a side pocket :).

Yep, when I get upset over missing a shot in practice I will usually line up on a straight shot and hit very low and very hard, trying to draw the ball into oblivion and beyond just to get my mind off the miss. I normally do not get too upset over misses in practice, however. ;)

well, you guys have to understand something. i live in a
2 1/2 car garage with an upstairs apartment. the bottom half of the garage was turned into a pool room to accomodate the 9' gold crown IV.

so, its just a makeshift pool room, cheap paneling, lots of stuff stored in there. so its not like i am tearing up one of my rooms. when the ball goes through the paneling i just walk to the other side and reach in the insulation and pull it out.

however, i think i have learned my lesson. i wont damage the gold crown, or one of my nice cues.

and dont worry 9balldiva, when we get together and play i'll be so mesmerized by you i wont even think of losing control.
