my Rick Howard j/b cue

Does anyone remember my Rick Howard j/b cue that was owned by Shannon Daulton made in 92'? It's rosewood with a NICE B/E handle area...I'll TRY to dig up pics of it in case you don't know it. Anyways, I've been contacting Rick for a little while now about fixing it with a new buttcap and a new shaft, and finally "took the plunge" and express mailed him the cue today. He says it'll be done in a few weeks...no worries, it was never used anymore by me anyways, so what's a few weeks? lol That is going to be the starting cue in my "merry widow" collection, and I have another one being built right now by another very good cuemaker (not who you may think) that's basically the same thing, only not a j/b cue. I'll post pics when it's done, in the gallery. Jeff

I just don't care for 'Merry Widow' cues. It's like great styling on a car until you see the nondescript taillights they put on it.

Merry Widows always look 'half-done' to me.

Yes sir, that IS the opinion of alot of players I know also...But over time I personally have come to respect the work that's still put into them and I LOVE being able to see the beautiful wood used in them, without the hassle of points and things to obstruct my view. While we disagree a lil bit here, we both have our opinions for a reason (or more lol), which is how life works. Thanks for the response, Jeff

p.s. ANYONE who may have pics of this cue, could you PLEASE post em? I can't find mine!! :angry:

i have a few merry widow style cues...

one made out of birdseye maple..

and the other made out of Indian Tammarrin...

some say cues with no points play better.. some say by adding the points it changes the way the wood flexes and reacts...

i would say both ppl are correct..
