My Schon and Dzuricky

what kind of wood is the DZ? pics are too dark to tell. which cue do you like better?

It is curapuy, which I've never heard of. Dark wood, nice grain.

And right now I like the schon, because it is my daily player. The DZ I got to break with, but it hits good. Ran two racks with it tonight out of 6, made 2 nine ball breaks. So four out of 6 would have been sure wins. Hits them good, lots of english if I want it, none if I don't.

Did a couple of bank practice racks with it as well. Didn't find any flaws in its hit.

Curapuy (I thought it was Tiger Maple)? Never heard on that kind of wood. Very nice wood though.

The schon I think is Tiger Maple, or at least a maple variation. The schon has the wrap, the dz is the sneaky.

I'll see if I can get a different picture of the grain of the wood. It was a heavier wood than purpleheart. I started to get a purpleheart, but Bob wasn't wanting to add more weight to that cue to get it where I wanted. He wasn't wanting to make the balance of the cue off by adding more weight, so he suggested the curapuy cue that was the weight I wanted without adding any more weight. Really like how it looks, much more than the purpleheart.

No picture or this wood (grumble) but good info anyway, and a great site in general. Note the spelling (I'm an engineer, and as such am not in any position to be critical of anothers spelling, just noting the correct spelling for anyone going on a search).

Thanks for the spelling help Dave. That explains why I couldn't find any info on google.

I also have a dzuricky and a schon! mine are a little fancier though (check out the thread I suggested earlier) I like the feel of my schon better but don't like playing with it because I don't want to damage it as it is a one of a kind. the bad thing is I can't decide wether to keep it or sell it

I don't really like fancy cues. I like cues that hit well, and look good in a plain package. About as fancy as I would ever get is some inlays in the butt behind the wrap, or a sneaky with ebony and ivory. If I had to choose between a cue with inlay work, 6 points, and what not vs a plain cue with rings at abcd I'd pick the plain one every time if the hit is there.

That's Curupay board at the bottom.
It's one of the most colorful woods I have. It sure will look nice as v-points to my other rosewood stock.
Maybe I'd get one done in a year.

What is the grey wood? Looks kinda like unfinished walnut, but the grain looks like it would be interesing in a butt.

Reading today it would sound like Curupay is a bit hard to work with.
