My shaft collar and joint section collar don't match up!

On my Schon Unique the diameter of the Schon IV Shaft Collar isn’t equal to the joint section's collar!
When you screw up the cue together, you can easily feel the difference by sliding with your finger over the joint section! The diameter of the shaft collar is over a half millimetre thinner!
It looks like this wasn't the original and first shaft made for my cue! Could that be the reason?
Btw strange is also that the diameter of my Predator 314/2 collar matches a lot better than the Schon IV and I bought the 314/2 a few months later and somewhere else as the entire cue!

HAVE YOU ALSO NOTICED SUCH DIAMETER DIFFERENCES AT THE COLLARS, ON ONE OF YOUR SCHON CUES?

P.S. I already posted that question in the social group: Players who like Schons. But nobody answered since I posted it! (05-10-2015)

If you bought them together (new) then this is not good.
If you bought them seperately, then .5mm difference can certainly happen.

All cues are made different, even within the same brand there will
be variance. With the Predator shaft you got lucky that it fits so well.

A decent cuemaker can add some layers of finish to the shaft so it matches
up better in diameter, should not cost that much, maybe around € 30-50.

That sucks! But your in luck, it's an easy fix.
Takes no time on a lathe, but you will have to refinish the bottom part of your shaft.

The Old Runde Schon Cues Rock!

I own a Schon Runde custom made in 1985........I have 5 shafts for the cue......2 original with order.........1 shaft was ordered in '95 with a stitched collar after Bob had left ('91) and 2 silver ring Schon shafts.....ordered between 2000-2002........the original shafts are Micarta ferrules and the last 3 shafts were ivory ferrules......all of the shafts were ordered directly from Schon.......the fit is perfect.........and I never had to return my cue to get the shafts fitted.......Mr. Runde personally told me at the Inaugural BCA show back in the mid 80's that I would never have to return my cue butt to have a shaft made.........he guaranteed me that the fit would be prefect........he had 2 dozen cues at the show and probably 40 shafts........I spent 20 mins changing shafts on different cues and Bob told me if I could find a cue where there wasn't a prefect match, I could have the cue for free.......Guess What?.........it never happened and so I wound up ordering a cue instead of getting one for free......Schon seems to have gone downhill and with Evan now gone, the good times may be over for future Schon cue owners.....maybe this fellow named "John" whom I read was running the shop may do a great job at Schon.....the jury is still out on that one.

This is an awesome Schon (Made by Master Runde)

Hi Matt,
I hope you're doing fine and I agree to what you said about Schon...
Btw I really love your Custom "Runde' Schon. The entire cue and also the engraving.
Did you let it refinishing not long ago?
All the best, your Swiss/Italian friend, Roberto (Al Capool)

Maybe they changed the their dimensions. Did you order shafts recently that are for your old cue?

My "old" cue is a Schon Unique which was made in 2011 for Terry Romines himself and the Schon IV-Shaft has been made +/- at the same time period! Btw I have another Schon SP and the Original shaft of that one, matches quite perfect on both Cues!
