My Shaft Treatment

I just cleaned up my shafts using the following method, and it works great: first I wipe the shaft down with a damp cloth to allow the moisture to open up the grain. The I wipe it with a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. Finally I use Ronsonol lighter fluid to take out any remaining crap and close the grain up.

I also tried the method of steaming out dings by putting a pinhole in a piece of foil and covering a pot of boiling water with it, the using the steam jet to lift out dings. Although I was scared $hitless the whole time, it worked well.

Feel free to submit your shaft treatments and/or sexual puns.

I like the process involving the pinhole in aluminum foil setting atop a pan of boiling water. That's great!

I wash hands immediately after playing with my shaft and then use the wet paper towels to wipe my shaft.

Once a year or so, I will follow the above with a clean paper towel, squirted with Pledge, and jerk, err, stroke the shaft up and down fast, fast as I can, letting the Pledge gloss it up. My wife says the orange stuff tastes better than the original scent.

I like the blue shaft, BTW. I think the contrast in my periphial vision is better that way than with a natural colored shaft.

Good stuff. Personally, I try to keep the moisture away from my cue, but DO use the steam, alcohol.

How does that lighter fluid work to clean the shaft?

BTW...after learning how to apply it, I am really liking SlipStic. I apply by finger about five drops, let it sit for an hour or more, and wipe with towel and clean with alcohol. Works great.

After using lighter fluid I see no reason to use any additional cleaning products. It makes your shaft as smooth as can be.

How I do my shafts.

For dings, I just take a damp face rag and a hot iron and run over the ding.
From there I just do what the directions tell me with SlipStic. Best shaft product I've seen in over 40 years of playing.
