My Thoughts On Kamui Chalk

You might be cue'ing wrong - the tip is supposed to touch the ball, not the felt / table.
No, seriously - I mean that. Start stroking horizontally and not jabbing down at the cloth.

I think it was damn time that somebody rocked the boat on chalk, we've been using the same crap with little variations for far too long. As soon as my Magic runs out I'm on Kamui.

Cheers!

You don't knock in a 147 by cueing 'wrong'.
No, seriously - I mean that.

Its ok. As soon as that Kamui runs out he will be back on Magic Chalk.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Whew, I guess my son can go to college afterall ;)

I really think Kamui chalk should be banned.

You walk into a pool hall, and just by looking at the tables you can see if someone is using kamui chalk. It leaves long lines on the table, and it leaves blue spots on the cue ball as well. It's just terrible.

I used masters, and honestly I was almost happy with it. The only problem for me was that it messed up my hand bad, it isn't very clean, at least the way I'm holding the chalk and how I apply it to the tip. I switched to blue diamond and I am sold. Absolutely no marks on the table, no blue spots on the cue ball and perfectly clean hands.

I don't see why you would pay $30 for a chalk that messes up the table this bad and the cue ball, not just for you but for your opponent as well.. It's really annoying.

It is banned from our poolroom. I've said it before - anyone who uses Kamui chalk is a selfish person who, in using this chalk, has absolutely no concern for their fellow pool players, or the poolroom and pool tables that they play on. Keep that junk on your own home pool table!

I recently purchased the 1.21 (first time using kamui chalk) you guys are correct its pretty messy and soft. It would be easy to burn though the cube if your not careful too.
As per performance vs others ive tried? Seems about the same for the most part as others but i was told by a rep that if i wanted to see the best performance/less mess was to use the kamui chalk on a kamui tip ( i have an everest med) but i cant test that yet till my cue is finished being made.

Now that's putting a shine on an apple! The stuff is junk, and so are their tips - IMO

eeeh, the tips are not junk.. Overpriced? Yes, but not junk.
But the chalk as I said, yes, overpriced junk.

BTW, the idea that the chalk will be cleaner on other tips is laughable!

The guy mentioned the tip had a certin texture in the material for the fine ground chalk to stick to better than other tips.
I dont know this is the truth but a company that sells tips and chalk designing them to work together better than others is not that far fetched.
I am going to pick up different chalk as im not happy with all the mess so far but well see if i notice a difference with their tip instead of my everest.
Going to start with magic chalk and predator.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Here is what they should do. Everyone gets a cube of chalk at no cost upfront. If you use it and in a month your league/Fargo/etc.. rating goes up, you send them the money. Same thing for tips and shafts. If you tell me it's %20 more accurate, I will go up %20 in my ball pocketing, which means about a full skill level. I go up in Fargo by 50-100 points you get your money.

If I listened to all the car insurance ads that will save me "400 dollars" if I switched, in 2-3 switches they will be paying me.

I would even pay more if it actually helped. You charge me $150 for a shaft now that does nothing for me, or I try it and if it works, I give you $250 and will be happy to do it.

I've only used about 2 or 3 predator .... cubes (? can you call them cubes if they have 8 sides?) and they all made my hand blue. I ended up actually giving the box with the remaining ones away.
I haven't tried magic chalk, but a friend of mine has and he says that he can actually play 2-3 racks without chalking and it is very clean, he really likes it.

When I first bought a Kamui 0.98 and a 1.21 together, I was really happy for a very short while. Before that I only used cheap chalk, Pioneer and Master. The Kamui gave me a lot more confidence, had to chalk my tip only about once a rack. My balls were brand new at the time, too - Aramith Tournament.

It only took about 2 weeks when I realized my table was messed up a lot more after a "Kamui session". It was a little better with the 1.21 than the 0.98 but bad enough anyway. When my balls were used for a while the Kamui(s) started to stick on those like hell, too.

I then bought some Magic Chalk - didn't trust it when I unpacked it. I thought: How is this ever going to beat Kamui in staying on for more than 1 or 2 hits. Well, it did. It actually beats Kamui - well, don't know if it really does but that is my impression. The texture is almost the exact opposite to Kamui - not creamy but rather it seems to be a bit harder than Master. It adheres well to all my cues, even the phenolic tipped break cue. And it doesn't leave a mess.

The only thing I noticed is that it does stay on (my heavily used) whitey but way less than Kamui.

I would still love to see a chalk that does not stick to the cue ball at all but to the tip perfectly. But that is probably physically not possible.

Kamui - never again. I'll stick with Magic until the ideal wonder chalk gets invented.

The cleaner your cueball the less chalk will stick to it. And I agree with Magic chalk being great, my favorite one to use, followed closely by the Blue Diamond and also OB Chalk. Probably not a lot of people tried OB chalk but it's good. Smoother than Masters, very similar to Magic and Blue Diamond.

You are right there. But, it doesn't apply to my stuff. I clean the balls after every session - even got a ball polisher.

I think the problem is that heavily used balls develop an enormous amount of microscopic little scratches and those make any chalk stick better to them. The CB is most affected.

To prove this I once made a little experiment with Master and Magic Chalk. I used a brand new cue ball I still had. A spare. Then I compared the marks on that and the used one. The difference was about 3 times as many marks stayed on the used one.

Kamui .98 is by far the best chalk I’ve ever had.....never going back to any of the others ever again.never had a skid cause of the chalk, chalk my tip every 3 or 4 shots so it keeps my pace as I want it and only wiping the cb every end of arack.lenghtens my tips life, gives me confidence in every shot and I only use about 2-3 per year so for the $20 I spend for each ($60 total per year) I wouldn’t change it for the world.....
