My Tucker 3rd Eye Trainer

received my 3rd Eye Trainer today from Mr. Tucker. overall i like this thing and believe it gives some positive feedback on the stroke. i think at this point my problem might be more of my aim than the stroke. the first few times i shot with it i seemed to have everything going straight.

however, it could be improved, in my opinion. the edges might actually be a little too close together. i think it would be better if it was about 1/2" wider than what it is now. sometimes when i shoot a hard draw shot and i dont follow through straight and bounce off one edge, i jerk to the other edge, and then i dont know what exactly i did wrong. if there was greater margin for error the edges might not hit the ball, and you may possibly have a better visual of what you did wrong.

but, for a mere $12-$15 i think it is well worth it. if you dont have one, get one, you cant go wrong.

p.s. does anyone know how i can play the CD that came with it? i stick it in my computer, and i dont know how to make it play??? i click on "My Computer" go to 'D Drive", and get a message that says something about "File Ready To Be Written To The CD"............

With the CD in the drive, try RIGHT clicking on the drive letter and selecting "autoplay".

If you don't have a DVD-ROM or a DVD-R/RW then you won't be able to play it. If you do have one of the above then you'll need to make sure you have WinDVD or a similar software program that allows you to play Video DVDs. If you've got all this then Hal's advice will work.

You can thicken the edges with tape. Actually, I'm going to try it today.

That's a good idea. Did Joe mention that? If he did I missed it. I went out the other night and shot about 20 shots with it, a leg never contacted the cue-ball but I was still putting a little english on the cue. I was saying to myself, these legs are to far apart for me to make any improvement.

Yet poster #1 wants them farther apart. I am with you though i think they are already a touch too widely spaced.
Obviously the device is almost a non factor as far as cost so Im recommending that Joe make it adjustable in his next run or just send out two -one about 3/8 inch skinnier called the 'Stroke Trainer-Pro Level' or similar.

I've had a few requests to tighten up the gap and will probably do so sometime in the near future. I was thinking about adding 2 holes to the base and we could call the outer holes amateurs and the inner holes pros (as already suggested) And some local players did put some tape on already to thicken theirs up so what I think I'll look into is just making the arms thicker in the first place or packaging an addition set of pro arms. I was trying to make it so everyone could benefit but can see for the better players we'll have to tighten it up.

As far as still putting spin on, keep the arms equidistant from the cue ball as you're setting up, that's how they train your eyes to see true center and remember to stay straight with that picture cuz that's what you're going to have to do if we tighten them up and then you won't be hitting spin you'll be crashing the forks too much. So you're either still setting up left or right of center or steering as you come thru. Find out which one it is and
I'm positive you'll make an improvement.

Thanks for the feedback

Don't listen to Lewdo. I tried this and now my DVD player is ruined.

lol... Glad to catch a touch of British sarcasm now and then... Cheers.

Actually, I think I might make the arms oval shaped, that way a player could turn them sideways if they wanted to tighten up the gap?

I like my 3rd Eye Trainer, but I have mounted mine back away from the tip, so that the 3rd Eye Trainer will not interefre in my stroke to the cue ball. Having been a engineer, for 40 years, my eyes work well at transferring lines. Maybe I'm using the tool incorrectly, but I'm stroking correctly. Center hit is very important.

I also really enjoyed the Video, which gave up some knowledge about how our eyes work & how our eyes might give us an incorrect mental picture.

Way to go Joe... thanks for some info about a very important aspect of our body & how our body adapts to the game.
