My view on the IPT

The only time the IPT is on my mind is when I sit down at the computer.

I log on to the IPT website and if it is still there I consider that a good sign. If things have been updated there that is a better sign. Then I check the AZB IPT threads and see what the latest rumors are about the IPT.

All I know about the IPT comes from attending the KOTH and those two web sites.

Will it succeed? I have no idea. Is it a scam? Most likely not, for the simple reason I can't figure out who is being scammed. But, it might be a company that goes belly up, just like any other start up company. And that does happen to thousands of start up companies every year.

I am sure the players are playing the odds (like any good gambler does) and figure they will go along with the IPT and enjoy the good times and hope that they get paid. Their upside is pretty good and even if they lose their out of pocket loss will not be that great. Just the expense of attending the latest tournament. But after all, that has happened to a lot of them in the past where they played in tournaments and came in out of the money.

In the meantime I just enjoy it for what it is. Entertainment, pure and simple.

Funny Doug, I had just put 2 and 2 together last week... figured it was about 90% that they were one and the same ;).

I am in agreement with you, Jake......I too, think of the IPT usually when I get in front of my computer....these days, I check the forum to see if somebody has reported finally getting a check...it will make me glad when that happens....I went to the Reno tournament and I liked, no, loved what I saw....the world's great pool players were there, in this great showroom and posters of the old-time greats and present day greats were seemingly everywhere....I peeked into the "Green Room" and it was nice....they laid out a nice spread of food and different iced drinks for all the players...there were nice easy chairs and people taking care of people....out in the lobby the IPT provided a "Cyber Cafe" where 6 computers were installed for anybody's free use....there were many pool tables out there where people were practicing, even if they were not tournament players... the people I talked to on the IPT staff were all professional and pleasant... it was a real fun and good time....I am trying to remain positive as is your post and enjoy the ride......I hope it lasts for a long time, because it's been a long time coming.....it wasn't so long ago that people were lamenting the fact that there was no one interested in promoting pool, and how there was no money in it.....well, the IPT has happened, and if it all ends today or tomorrow, I'm still glad it happened and I still enjoyed it.....
