Can someone briefly explain how the
NAPA skill rating system works?

If you are involved, how do you like
the NAPA league system? It isn't available
where I live.

If you have a skill rating from another league they will convert you. If not, I believe men start at 70 and women at 40. If you win your match your skill level go up 1-4 (or so) points each week. If you lose it goes down. How much depends and who you play and how much you won by. Races are tougher than APA. I'm a 96 in NAPA 8-ball. I play a 44 Wednesday in a 9-3 race. I won 9-0. The same guy in APA would have been a 5-2 race.
NAPA online scoring is great. Their national website updates all local matches withing 24hrs so you can look at your stats right away and see where you stack up nationally.

If you don't have one in your area, their franchises are CHEAP..I mean like $250 (I think)

Slight correction to BryanB: men without prior league experience start at 50. Or, if the LO knows the person, he can estimate a starting rating.

I really like the NAPA system. I think it's much better than APA. Better rules, better handicap system, no 23-rule so people don't have to sandbag.
