Nashville TN area pool halls/tournaments

I don't know anyone here yet. I'm new to TN.
If they played DeLuna, I'm guessing Henny?
I've played everyone here I could find so far.
I'm matching up with Yardbird in a week or so.
Probably big Shane after that.
A local guy who is always around action said I will be killing mine if I beat Joey.
I replied, "what action?" since it's basically crickets around here for 9's.
If you like bar box pool, this is a helluva place.
If Clarksville, TN wasn`t 11 hrs away, I`d come hit some balls with ya brother. But damn, that`s a little far for me, but ya never know. Someday I may hit you up with a PM & say, I`m here, where are you? Lol

Gotcha. Nat is the owner of night deposit in clarksville and one of hennessee's backers. He is also the diamond pool table rep for the area. I think he used to make southeast custom cues as well. Could have the name wrong.

My buddy was getting the last 5 from DeLuna on the bb, and the 6 out on the big table playing 3k sets...he got torched. Said In 2 hours DeLuna never missed a shot.

I am about an hour south of Nashville, but we go to JOBS at least one weekend a month, usually for their Saturday night in house tourney. Shoot me a PM if you are serious about some big table action and I'll see if I can get you two in touch with each other. He is out of my league, but he loves to bet it up(low or high) Welcome to Tn...It ain't Bama, butt it'll do.

Ha, thanks but this place isn't worth the drive.
We'll be moving to Eastern TN in a few years. Perhaps we'll meet in the middle then.

I did not mean to imply that I have not met ANYONE yet, I just haven't run into many higher level players who like to mix it up on the big tables.
I have met many players through the local barbox tourneys I have attended, since they are the only game in town.
There are several great players here but they don't venture off the 7 footers often.
The fact that there are only 3 big tables in town outside of homes probably plays a role in that.
I know several players who will not go to the room with the 9s because they do not like the environment and the clientele.
It's also smokey there and I hear it's wise not to leave your stuff unattended.
I came up in smokey rooms so I am less bothered by that.

When JOBs goes nonsmoking can people give an update? I'd love to play there on occasion if I no longer shorten my life by three months for each visit.
I just called JOBs and the reason they are going nonsmoking is there's a new smoking ban in Nashville which goes into effect March 1. So only three weeks to go!

Yeah some people who go there occasionally told me the news tonight.
More reason to head down to check it out.

H Cue's tables aren't bad. I believe they are oversized 8' Steepletons. They keep them in good shape overall.

If you're looking for 9'ers, JOB Billiards in Madison has a few, as does Fat Willie's in Murfreesboro.

Played in H Cues, not bad tables, pockets are decent, tight enough you need to aim, a bit speedy with rolling but not bad. Cushions play like they are loose or the rails are not tightened enough. Also they need much better lighting at the tables, especially with my eyesight and way too old glasses LOL

Fat Willie's was pretty nice, I do wish some more local players that are just hanging out would not be afraid to ask strangers to play. Large pockets, I played like a pro there, was tossing out 10 ball racks and running through them like butter, helps when you don't need to aim much. Good beer selection, tried a couple of the local TN things and liked them both. Food I'd rank pretty low, 3 chicken tenders, clearly super market frozen stuff, no real sauce to speak of.

Went to MJs Sport Bar after Fat Willie's, place was nicer quality overall, the crowd was very different. Fat Willie's was pretty much all 30+, seemed 40 or even 50 was the majority, MJs was mostly early in their 20s, if that. Food there was good, my double whisky was a bit skimpy though, but I'm sure if I was a regular I'd see more in the glass LOL. A place in PA I went to several times I was chatting with the bar staff and my drink orders kept getting fuller and fuller LOL

I just checked out some pics of Fat Willie's. 3 lamp lights on a 9' table is not even close to enough.
Being 90 minutes away, it is within driving distance if something worthwhile is happening there.
I'm always on the lookout for a place with regulation-size tables.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Lighting at Fat Willie's was not bad, I never thought they needed more, it was the H Cues place that had really bad lighting. Only thing I wish was better there are the pocket sizes, need to be smaller for quality play. Table I was on at least had some roll for sure, but passable, not great, not horrible.

I need to up my thoughts on H-Cues a notch, played in the Wed tournament, was decent C players and Bs there, a few friendly folks. Bonus points for the people there and was a pretty competitive event. After a bit of a closer look at the tables I found out why they had a bit of a roll and were fast, whoever did the cloth over-stretched it so the grain was wavy in spots (where it was stretched more than other areas), which will affect the ball roll, and the tight setup made the table play faster.

My next trip to the area is scheduled for June.

Oh, and a shout out to the Hertz at the airport, got a Mustang convertible for no extra charge :) They had one of the more fun selections in their Presidential Circle area that I have seen, Mustang, V6 Chargers, Camaro (no V8s though).

H-cues is a fun place, but the tables are a bit old, they're 8', and the lighting seems a bit substandard. Plus they only have four tables total so it's easy to have to wait at times. But they are non-smoking and they do host regular tournaments.

JOBs is very smoky, so I haven't been back in years. It's also in Madison which would make it an easy 45 mins from La Vergne. Fat Willie's in Murfreesboro is also very smoky. The one time I went there it was early in the day and no one else was in there, but the entire place still smelled like one giant ash tray.

TNTs might be closest to you, but they had without a doubt the dirtiest tables I've ever seen. The cloth looked some sort of blue/black hybrid there's so much gunk on there, and it all comes off onto your hand and then onto your stuff/clothes. I've been there once and will never go back.

MJs in Murfreesboro is non-smoking, clean, and very nice with a bar, music, darts and cornhole, and large TVs. But all 7' tables.

I'm back in the area for the week, stopped by TNT and the two 9 footers they had were really dirty, but the 7 foot Diamonds were clean. I have to give them big points for the food, the burger I got with fries were outstanding. The lady at the bar also did not fully charge me, and a random guy I met there that I played, for the full time we were there, pool time was only like $10 for a couple of hours.

I like Fat Willies atmosphere (mostly casual players with some B players as the top so no-one trying to get money games every 10 minutes) but tables are a bit easy and 8 footers.

I'll stop by JOBs to check it out this week also.

Fat Willie's used to have two 9'ers at the very back, and I think they're still there. I believe they are (or were) Gandy "Big G"s.

I met a friend at Night Deposit in Clarksville. Decent room but they smoke, I left before it got real bad. They have three Diamond 9'ers, one with 4.5" corners, one with 4 1/8, one stupid tight at 3 7/8? Played a friend some 1P on the 4 1/8. Table was very level, good times. Next day I went to JOB for a practice session, they have three 9'ers.

That's good to hear about TNT's. I had played on the 7' tables and they were absolutely atrocious. If they've finally recovered them then I'll have to give them another shot. They're the closest non-smoking place to my house that has leagues so it would be great if they were viable. I also love a good burger.

I'll be back in the area in a few weeks if you want to get together and play. Send me a PM with your contact info.
I do have to say I went back there in the evening and the vibe was way different, they had security at the door frisking people. Not the type of place I am used to visiting for some playing or hanging out with the locals.

A place a mile from my hotel in Smyrna was actually a lot of fun, Sullivan's Sports Bar http://sullivanssportsbar.com/contact-us Only 4 tables, two of them were 8 footer older red label Diamonds and two bar boxes I did not try, but the atmosphere was hopping, had a guy/kid ask me to play, even though he was not very good he stuck with playing with me for a while, then a few of his friends showed up and they played as well, again sticking with me despite losing most of the time. I would go there again probably over some of the other places. It is smoking, but that does not really bother me much for the time I spent there, and since I enjoy a cigar every so often I would not mind that.

From the people I met, Sullivan's and HCues I think are my favorite places to shoot so far in the area as a mid-level player. I'm sure the A players and better would be more into playing at JOB however.

Yikes, I just stopped by TNTs again. Tables were as dirty as ever, 7', 9' all of 'em. There was so much gunk it was almost impossible to slide my cue through my fingers after just 30 mins of play. And I chose the best looking table. Another one looked like it had just had a bonfire on it there were so many black streaks on it that looked like soot (??).

I had high hopes as they host leagues. But I'll continue to drive past it on my way to other places twice as far away.

On the plus side, the bathroom was immaculate. Looked brand new, nice tile, smelled fresh, like an upscale vegas strip casino bathroom. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come. But, for now, no thank you.
