We will be testing a new league concept in Dallas this year. check out site. It is work in progress. www.nationalbilliardfootballleague.com

We will have high school students from the BETTER High School Billiard Program train and play in the new league to prepare for high school team competition. Billiard Football has been played in Dallas for almost 15 years now. There have been hundreds of high school students that have used billiard football as a training game for the past 11 years.

We set up a booth for the Billiard Education Foundation at the 2011 APA Team Nationals in Las Vegas and played a few fun games for the APA players to raise money for the juniors. We were there for two weeks and played billiard football with almost 200 players there. Great bunch of people there.

If you are in the Dallas area and would like to join the National Billiard Football League please contact us. We need players who can help mentor and get involved more with the junior players. We start Sep. 4th (Tuesday 5pm-9pm) at AMF Ricardson Lanes in Richardson, Texas.

Support junior programs. Please also contact the Billiard Education Foundation www.billiardeducation.org on how you can become involved with junior billiard programs.

Thanks Earl Munson

Hi Earl,

It's a great thing you're doing by getting involved in education.

But since you're getting into the education field...let's correct a very common mistake you made in your post and on your website:

The fourth paragraph of your post says "If your in the Dallas area..."

y-o-u-r is the possessive form of you; as in "It's your shot."

The correct usage in your sentence is "you're"; the contraction of "you are"

The website has the same mistake in its introduction paragraph.

It's such a common mistake that you'll even see it in newspapers these days.

You misspelled the word "your". It is not spelled y-o-u-r. :D

Cool idea Earl... hope everyone will get involved with this program to see if we can attract more young players into pool/billiards... we need to find ways to reach out to younger cueists to become involved in our sport and this particular program should bring in more youngsters and perhaps also excite the many football fans who would enjoy shooting pool in a football style format.

Hi Don,

The H.S. students love to play Billiard Football. I will still train the students the fundamentals but I need some hard empirical data on their game this year.

The game is so simple for them to play and it is very offensive which teaches the students great strategies and skills in both 8-ball and 9-ball.

I ALWAYS played Billiard Football to hone my skills when I was playing in the "A" and Master 8-ball leagues. It makes you a fearless 8-ball player.

The APA 8-ball guys saw the challenge right away. They were donating $10 per rack just to try to see if they could score a touchdown when we were in Vegas last year. Some guys paid $40-$60 to play. They kept coming back to win raffle tickets we were giving for scoring TD's.

I played the other night for my first Alabama game. They are in Dallas this Sat. kicking off the season against Michigan. You know me I love football (Roll Tide). So I played my first weeks match up Alabama vs Michigan. I had a great night 44-10. I scored 6 TD's in 10 racks playing Rookie format(play by yourself). I am 1-0 so far this season. There are 20 weeks. I play Alabama vs who ever they play each week. They are virtual match-ups. In week #1 my opponents (Michigan) score is 10 points. Next week it moves up to 13 points, then 14, 17, 20, all the way to 50 points on week 20.

Don I need to get with you ASAP.

Thanks
Earl Munson
