Natural talent or practice?

As a follow up to my last post. Maybe the biggest hidden talent a pool player/golfer or Quarterback can have is the following....

We all have an internal dial in our mind that is somewhere between
Sociopathic and Psychopathic...
Let's make it a scale 1-10.
1 being Sociopath
10 being Psycopath
I believe most Champions in these sports are on the Sociopathic side.
Say a 2-4 on the Scale...These are guys who will dog a nine for 5 grand and be telling someone a joke 3 minutes later like nothing ever happened.
Very calm naturally...takes a whole lot to get them on full tilt.
Think Gary Kasporov the great Chess champion

A person tending to the psychopathic side is less calm naturally.
Think Ray Lewis of the Ravens.

If you are on this side of the dial...meditative practice may help your game more than anything else.

After thinking on it a while I realized I practice not to get to a champions level, but because I REALLY enjoy checking out and watching the balls roll around.

Now I can give myself a break and just enjoy the game.......and in turn play the best I ever have in 35 years.

That's how I feel, too. I really like practicing, and laugh lots at my misses.

I believe most Champions in these sports are on the Sociopathic side.

I use competition to improve my practice and not try to use practice to improve my competitive playing.

I'm going for the state of mind of that there is no difference between practice and competitive playing. I like the feeling that I get when I walk up to a table, start to play, and it feels as if I never left the table to begin with, regardless if it is practice or competitive play.

Another way to put it is like meeting a old freind you haven't seen for years and it feels as if you last saw them yesterday.

The ultimate goal is to be free from technique for only then can true freedom be experinced.
