You mean inserted dr drills?
Or the carbide tipped cam types? They look like a standard drill but they have high feed rates
The inserted drill, dr drill types are heavy duty and fast just not as fast a feed rate as the carbide twist on cam types
I used a .312 iscar cam on 4140 once at 26ipm around 4k rpm
That was the fastest i ever drilled
Your sfm and feed rate have to be right, you better know what material it is cause itll be destroyed in an instant if the sfm and chip load are not right lol!
The dr types are real tough and take alot of punishment, none of the brutes at my shop have ruined one yet
And both will make great surface finishs and good tolerances like you said
