Need a shaft for an elite

Hey guys I have an elite cue and am going to put a good low deflection shaft on it so i can use it in competition. I was looking at OB and Predator shafts and wondering. Wondering what you guys thought would be a good low defection shaft.

Elites are nice for import cues.
Either or, its up to you. You might also consider a Tiger X shaft.
I have both the Z and 314. I play with a smaller tip so my preference would be the Z at 11.75 mm.

Keep your eyes peeled in the Sale Forum. LD shafts do come up frequently for a much better than retail price.

cool thank. I love the cue for the beautiful wood. The warping and designs I see on others just aren't my thing and I figured with a low deflection shaft it would be a good cue.

Never looked at a Tiger X. Are there really any major reason predators are so much more expensive than say an OB

The OB classic pro is a good shaft, from reading your post im guessing you have never tried a LD shaft and if that is true then the OB classic pro ld shaft would make the transition easy, IMO they hit more like a standard maple shaft...predator is more whippy/flimsy.

Your right I have used a regular shaft all my life. I play with and old dufferin sneaky pete. I have used LD shafts in the store like the OB1 though and love them. Why would the classic pro be easier than say the OB1 or OB2?

The classic pro has a real ferrule compared to the wood one on the OB1, this makes a big difference for me, the classic pro has a more stiff and solid hit unlike the softer hitting OB1 and OB2, if your store has a classic pro give it a hit or order one on seyberts and if you dont like it send it back.

I think that a lifetime standard shaft user like you would love it, and you would find it easier to get used too.

I recently decided to try a ld shaft so I demo'd several OB and Predator shafts and liked the OB classic pro the best but ended up getting a deal on a Jacoby edge hybrid on here so took a chance on it. I could not be happier. It plays like a solid maple shaft and I am transferring much more of my cue's energy to the cue ball. It is taking some adjusting my aiming with English (obviously) but is well worth it.

I would highly recommend any OB product not only quality, but also on customer service. Best I've ever encountered.

The only thing I would say is if you were going to go with the Classic Pro for example, definitely give it a test drive first if you're used to traditional shafts, mainly due to the tip size and altered taper.

The Classic is a good alternative if you find you can't get along with the Pro's taper and size as it matches the traditional pro-taper and tip size whilst maintaining the stiff hit.
