Need Advice Regarding Tip Size / Diameter

And when I took a close look at it it wasn't the typical coin curve it more closely resembled a parabola.

Hmmm, that would seem to be even a steeper angle than the coin-shaped surface, unless its the flip side of a parabola. If so, that would be a a concave cue-tip surface instead of the typical convex surface. The tip surface would have a dip in it instead of bending out.

Black-Balled's figure #40 is concave although it should be less concave than that to match the cue-ball surface curve.

Baseball bats are convex. Cricket bats are flat. Jai-alai bats are concave. Should the cue tip be like a jai-alai bat?

So far as I know, I have never played with a spherical-shaped tip. Mine always have more curvature towards the shoulders. Somewhat flatter in the middle. And I never worry about it and I almost never shape my tip after it's been on a few days.
Every tip tool on the planet is spherical shaped. Do you shape yours by hand?

Never heard of that - like the opposite of a tip that’s flatter in the center. Have you tried it again since then? Remember any particulars about what made it better?

I just played extremely well with it.

In fact, now that I think about it, I might actually still have the tip somewhere. I was really surprised by the shape of it and actually tried measuring it with one of those clear plastic multi-circle template thingies. It was clearly steeper than a circle. So I kept it just as one of those pool curiosities.

I'll see if I can find it

Would appreciate seeing it.

With a more "pointed" tip I'm guessing you can see more exactly where you're hitting on it and the CB - but have less tip room to "fine tune" the spin.
