WTB--A New Stroke !
This past week, I visited Nick Varners' store in Owensboro Ky. While I was there, I was able to see his antique gold crown that is set up in his shop. The girls behind the counter said this is his favorite table and is the one he practices on the most.... The head string, foot string, outline of triangle and long string ( from foot spot to foot rail ) we are drawn onto the felt with a sharpie. I am considering doing the same on my home table, not only for obvious reasons, but also because I kinda like the throwback look it gives the table. Just curious to see if any of you have opinions, pro and con. Thanks....

I don't know about pros and cons but IMO the less distractions on or around the table the better.

Outside of setting the spot, I get asked pretty often to run a line for centering the rack and for one pocket. I never really noticed it on my table, but not sure about with that much extra added if it would be a distraction.
Run The Century has lines and a rack outline on his table, but I never really notice it when we are playing.
Personal decision I'd say...

My GC was done...

My GC was done with a head string line from rail to rail. For the foot string, there is a line maybe 6-8 inches long through the spot from side to side and then a line drawn through the spot to the back rail. The line extends in front of the spot an equal distance as the lines extending to the sides..sort of a T with an extremely long tail to the bottom rail, if you can picture it. All lines extending to a rail stop at a point directly down from the edge of the rail, not to the end of the bed under the rail. It had the rack outline previously. I think this blows the previous lines away. Straight pool, nine ball and one pocket, it works well. If you like the way this sounds I'll measure the short line exactly. This is the way RKC did it for me.

ps..remember..once it's done you're stuck until the cloth is changed. I hated the way I did it first.

This isn't uncommon, especially for people who play serious straight pool and one pocket. I play 14.1 quite a bit and practice the game religiously. It sucks playing on a table that doesn't at a minimum have the rack traced in.

lines..

use a cube of chalk to draw the center line under the rack for straightness...use chalk to draw any lines on table u may need....most use blue chalk on green cloth for play anyways..
=
use a straight edge and a jet line to get marks perfect
