Who makes the best break cue?

What tip should I use?
Phenolic is supposed to be outlawed in some pool tournaments and rooms, hymm?

I have a Lomax jump cue so don't need a Jump/Break Cue.

I hear Predator is coming out with a new break cue.
Has anyone tried it out a prototype?

I honestly thought that there wasn't much difference btwn a break cue and a house cue. Most people don't hit the cue ball dead center much less the head ball of the rack. I know that I don't. I mentioned it to my team captain at the time and he said"Try my poison break cue"

I've gotten a predator shaft, kamui tips and chalk, and kinda meh on their merits. IMO, to get the advantage out of better bow and arrow, you need to be a better Indian. (And to be a better Indian, you need a knowledgable chief to guide you, and lots of heads to practice scalping)

With that said the Poison break cue is the truth. My break is on and off, but usually off. I was hitting the rack with more force, which compensated for my on and off again break shot.

I haven't tried any other break cues, so my experience may be typical of all break cues. But for me there was a noted difference.

Broken.

You will find as many answers to this question as there are members here. Many go with Gullysay, he will make one specific to you, others love Mezz, and other love Predator BK2 OR BK3. White Diamond is a great break tip, as well as Samsara. My personal break cue, after having to sell the Mezz PB2, is a new old stock full splice sneaky from the Adams factory in the early 90's. I do believe it has a Madman break tip. Nice, solid, and I love it! Breaks a rack just as good for me as the Mezz. All depends on personal comfort and ability. Some dont even use a break cue, and crush the rack, so go figure! Try as many as you can from friends or pool hall buddies to get a feel for what you want. Plenty to be had on here at decent prices as well. Good luck in your search!

I think finding a break cue is like finding a good cue after you have been playing for a few years. There is so much to learn about the break, the rack, the balls, how they react on different tables. Its the single most important, one of the most difficult shots in pool and vastly overlooked even by good players. Having said that, its a quest of your own man, but like someone said, to get the full benefit of a better bow and arrow you need to be a better indian. I tried a lot of break cues, the poison really fit me very good. I tried the BK3 and I really liked it.

I still break a lot with my playing cue and I get awesome results.

Because of this, my break cue has two shafts. Phenolic for one, hard leather for the other.

Who makes the best break cue? Opinions will vary. If I had to make one recommendation, I'd go with the Poison Break Cue. But I don't own one.

Freddie <~~~ cuz it felt good
