OK, I got the cue part taken care of thanks to Sheldon Lebow, thanks for everyone's help.

I need a case to hold this new 3 piece cue, is there anyone here that can help me out with this?

Here's a pic of Lou's case, I don't want th exact same thing but similar. I believe they call it an envelope case.

The cuemaker himself doesn't have any lines on cases for his cues? I'd think he'd be an excellent source for that sort of info.

Alex,
I spoke to Jim Murnak about a year ago. He quoted what I would need at a reasonable price. You might try contacting him ('FIST98@aol.com').

You discussed a case like this for a 3 piece? Do you have one also? Sheldon said he's made 7-8 three piece cues total incuding Lou's. I will contact Jim, thanks for the help.

No, he does this for people who need them but it wasn't like he came up with a 3 piece cue line or something. He doesn't make any cases as far as I know.

That case in the picture was made by Chas Clements, a local guy here in Colorado that does, well did, some fantastic leather work. He was pretty well known in the custom leather working circles (saddles, sheathes, etc.), if there are such things.

Unfortunately he was injured and does not do leather work anymore. His work was not cheap, I bet that case cost at least 2x what the cue cost, and that's if Lou got a deal.

I don't have it yet. I wanted one, but it wasn't a priority. I asked a local cuemaker to make one as time allows. He'll be done when he's done and then I'll have one.

I didn't think the cuemaker would be making cases - just figured he'd know someone who was making 3-piece cases. I guess I assumed he was making more of those cues than he is. No biggie.

I would look at some of the Zero Halabration box cases in 2x2 they have nice tight fitting inserts that will hold everything tightly in-place and offer great protection for the cue.

i guessing you want it to fit inside checked baggage right? if so try contacting Dennis Swift. he might be able to do something for you that could be within your buget.

You could purchase a padded soft case and have any luggage repair shop cut and sew the bottom of the case to the length you need. This is a truly easy job for them and shouldn't cost but about $5-10.

Alternatively IF you are willing to invest slightly more work, you should purchase a tube case that is the style of one round tube with sewn inserts. What you will do is take off the outer cover. It slips off. Cut the tube with a hacksaw or bandsaw to the length you need. Cut the ends of the insert off just slightly longer than the tube. Seal the end, stuff some foam rubber in there for a little extra padding if you want. Foam is available at craft shops, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn and so on, or run by any auto upholstery shop and they will give you a little scrap for free. Take the outer lining and the finished tube to the luggage repair place and tell them to shorten it to fit the tube. $5-10 ought to get that done there.

Then you will have a hard case to protect your three piece cue.

You might PM Az's member Rangercap as he seem to be making a few nice case [see his post in Cue Gallery about his cases]. if you are close to a Tandy store you might check with the saleperson, they may know a local leathercrafter who could make a cue case. But it really depend on what you want to spend??
