Many years ago, late 90's, a friend of mine who was really into billiards was coaching me. He was in the process of buying a new cue and wanted to get rid of one his own. The cue was in perfect condition and he gave me what I thought was a good deal so I bought it. Not too long ago, I was in a hall and some guy came up to me and started raving about my cue saying it was a Helmstetter and he hadn't seen one in a while. Made me a few offers which I declined. I wanted to find out more info about it and after some looking I found that it's identical to the Level 3 97-7. Everything matches up except the cue has no signature or anything that would identify it. If it's a fake then it's a damn good one and the cue, although i'm no expert, looks like a true craftsman made it. It's very well balanced, smooth and just the right weight.
So my question is, if the cue doesn't have a signature on it, is it a fake?
Any information you guys can provide is appreciated.
