Need help on choosing a leather case

I need help on which of this cases is the best one that would protect my cues with regards to the interior and exterior construction of the case;

Hampton Ridge (leather)
Sterling (leather)
Instroke (recycled leather)
Action (leather)
Giuseppe (ortona fabric)
Joe Porper (vinyl)

I'm tired of pulling out my cues and be surprised where i got those small dents cause I know that whenever I play I place me cues on a safe spot, so I assume that it is my present case that is the culprit.

i never use a porper case since the shaft only goes in tip end first. unless you clean the chalk off the tip before inserting, the shaft gets filthy with chalk really fast.a real pita, and once the chalk is in the tube it ain't never coming out again.
another problem is the butt goes in screw end first, and eventually wears a hole in the bottom of the case.

this is based on porper cases made about 5-10 years ago, btw. i'm assuming they haven't changed.

Of that list I don't know Hampton Ridge, but according to John Barton the former owner of Instroke who posts here. Instroke is far and away more protective than any of the others. I leave it to John if he sees this thread to explain why.

Just go with the Instroke and you will never have to wonder what is inside the case. Look at all the case threads on here to get a full explanation of why. Instroke is the only compnay who publicly states that the protection of the cue is the first priority.

Yes I Love my instroke geo case. its a 3x5 and it is the most protective case i have seen made out of leather. I have the black and blue combo and have seen the black and green and love both of them. the construction of the inside of the case is flawless. I put my shafts in tip first but always clean the chalk off and my shafts are never filthy. Also i am very anal with the smoothness of my shafts and since i have had this case nothing has happened to my cues, no nicks, dents, scratches, nothing. Invest in the Instroke. I purchased mine from Billiardwarehouse and it was there within 4 days. Greg is very customer friendly.

I can only speak for two of them...I have an Action Elite burgundy/brown leather 2/4 case that's very sharp looking, very sturdy, and gives you easy access to your shafts and butts.

I also have an Instroke buffalo leather 3/7 that's also extremely sturdy and great looking. The dividers are tight and on the long side, so sometimes you have to fumble around trying to get shafts out because they go in fairly deep, even with joint protectors on. But still a well built case.

Either one would be a good purchase, whatever strikes your fancy and turns you on. I'm unfamiliar with Hampton Ridge and Sterling leather. I'd go with the leather instead of the vinyl and other one

cases

I dress my cues in a "WHITTEN" case...
Porper, instroke, and Justis all make quality cases.

At one time we were looking into the whitten and the justice, both fine cases. We ended up sticking with the instroke. We like the way it protects the cue and the looks too. It is not as fancy as a justice but is a very solid case.

We had some additional cues so needed more storage space. Last time we got the geo. That makes 3 instroke cases.:D

Go with Instroke!!!

If you want the details, I'll reply privately, but I have a GF that ran over her instroke 3x6 case (accidently) with a '80 something GMC Jimmy and did not have any damage done to the case or the cue!!! Just a little tire mark. I believe Instroke still has her letter. They used to display the actual case until someone tried to run off with it and she took it back.

If you want protection, Instroke is the case!!

I use a Flowers case, but I know Instroke makes a very nice case. I just want John to start making cases again (hint, hint ;) )

FWIW,

Jim

I use a Joe Porper case and have nothing but good things to say about them. The shafts do do in tip first, but I've never had a problem ever with chalk getting all over the shaft. Guiseppe are very nice as well. They are a little more than the Porper cases, but they are pretty smooth. Hampton Ridge and Action are cheap brands, I see a lot of people using them, but I would never trust one with my custom cues. Instroke seems to be the king of the hill, but I've seen a lot of debate over the Germany and Taiwan made cases and a few problems with the different parts of the case. Never owned one so I really don't know. Pricewise, but quality, I would go Joe Porper, Guiseppe, and Instroke.

OnQCase

Hi,

I looked for about 6 months and finally settled on an OnQCase http://www.onqcases.com. Well, it arrived yesterday and I'll tell my opinion after carefully looking over my new case. I absolutley made the right decision! It's absolutely WONDERFUL! Blair (Owner) read my mind and created a one of kind case just for me. At least to my knowledge. You simply call him up, explain what you need & want and he custom makes you a case. He offers a seven day (after delivery) no questions asked return policy. What could be easier. His prices are very fair and even low compared to some other custom builders. If your looking for a true once in a lifetime buy, this is it... Some other people have posted regarding pocket size, I have smaller hands and have no problem whatsoever. But if I'm not mistaken, this too could be customized...

If you send me your email address I'll return pics of mine - it's a real sweet heart! :D :D :D

Good Luck

OOPS - my mistake

The owner of OnQCases is "Garth Bair" - not "Blair" - I must have had a brain fart... Or maybe even some sort of senior moment.

I have the Instroke Premier (vinyl). Best value imo: looks great and offers bulletproof protection for my cues.

Giuseppes are crappy cases. The design is such that your cues rattle inside the tubes. They're not snuggly fitted at all.

I reacently got an imperial 2x4 case on line for 95 bucks , I love the case and its tough to beat the price,,,,,,,,,,,btw a 3x6 is like 160,,,,,,,,,,otherwise ive got fellinis for my better cues

I've finally made up my mind, after a long deliberation and with a lot of help from you guys, and the winner is.....

Instroke Geo 2x4 in Black and Yellow. I like the shade of yellow that they put on the case, it's kinda retro and it would be easy for me to spot where it is.

I feel like a kid waiting for Santa Claus

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it.

Your case sounds so pretty. My geo is blue leather. I think that the geo is slightly cheaper since it is made with recycled leather.

Couple of things you can do to resolve your issues:
1) To clean the tips, just wipe the tip on th carpet at the pool hall :D
2) Get a set of joint protectors, that way the pin will not protrude out at the bottom of the case.
