Need help on this shot.

Hey guys, I was playing some low dollar sets of 8 ball at the bar last night and this came up. 10 in the corner and 8 on the spot or near it. I added balls 1 thru 5 to simulate cue ball position and it would be an easier reference point if anyone has any tips on the moving the cue ball easier. I found draw difficult because of the force needed and that makes it hard to get a good shot on the 8. I was shooting from the 3 ball is and ended up using follow but the cueball spun into the rail to much and I ended up with a bank that I missed. Just looking for some advice on these type of shots

I'd cheat the pocket and follow one-rail to play the 8 in the opposite corner except on CB position #5.

And even then it might be possible depending on the equipment. Draw would be last recourse.

But hangers are tough to play position with!
 
I dont know how extra topics were posted I added another table with a diagram I guess I used the back button and edited is all I can come up with them hit submit. Sorry guys Im a newbie.
 
Playing around the eight from CB position #1 also appears to be a distinct possibility.
 
Yeah position 3,4, and 5 give me the most trouble. I'm going to practice this shot in a few. I guarantee I wont miss position again. the diagram with the 10 ball was also a tricky one. I've heard some people talk about swerving the cue ball to cheat the side. Is this possible? I assume a cross side bank would be your best try but the bar table side pockets are soo tight.
 
This is going to sound wrong to you, but try it. Set up the shot like you had it, and shoot it the same way (cheating the pocket), but hit it like a stop shot. what you really want is to hit low enough on the cue ball at a soft-medium speed that the cue ball is almost not spinning when it hits the 10 ball.

What happens when you use follow is the english kills the cueball off the rail, so you need to hit it with out the english. A little bit of practice with this shot you will find what speeds to hit it with. Depending on the shot, you may want to put a 1/4 tip of inside on it to bring it straight up table.

You can get easy shape on either corner pocket or on the bottom side pocket from these two CB positions. (You can also get the same shape from other CB positions with a little more speed/spin - these are just the easiest CB positions.)

The key is to shoot these shots with lag speed or less so the CB's forward roll doesn't kill it's rebound (even to get shape for the side pocket you want to slow roll the CB, not slam it).

I like #1 when I'm playing well

I choose #3 when my nerves are shot

Shot #2 is the most easily repeatable one FOR ME. (though I might move the cueball up 1/2 - 3/4 diamond from center table and hit less ball)

DON'T look at the next ball, look at where you want to put the cb. Then your subconscience will put it where you need it to be.

This quote may sound over simplistic,but its the dead nuts truth.YOU MUST pick a place to play the CB to land and hold that in mind when you shoot.

What will often happen,if you don't do that,is it will land exactly where you DO NOT want it to because thats what is on your mind as you stroke the shot.

It will land on the spot you are focused on....if your focused on where you don't want it to land you will find yourself SOL more often then not.

I remember having this AH HA moment years ago.Keep this very simple but key thought in mind on every shot and your game will elevate quite a bit.After all,the runs come easier when you are not shooting safties on yourself lol.
