Need help on this shot.

Hey guys, I was playing some low dollar sets of 8 ball at the bar last night and this came up. 10 in the corner and 8 on the spot or near it. I added balls 1 thru 5 to simulate cue ball position and it would be an easier reference point if anyone has any tips on the moving the cue ball easier. I found draw difficult because of the force needed and that makes it hard to get a good shot on the 8. I was shooting from the 3 ball is and ended up using follow but the cueball spun into the rail to much and I ended up with a bank that I missed. Just looking for some advice on these type of shots

Also guys how do you shoot this shot, I'm struggling on cue ball movement.
The placement of the cueball could be anywhere around that area but this shot also came up and I was unsure how to shoot it.

This works well for 1~2 position. A little left/Draw and you come out nice

This is a common situation that comes up with less experience players - i.e., they have a harder time getting shape when the object ball is right in the hole. The key here is to pay as much attention to pocketing the ball when it is 1 inch from the hole as you do when shooting a harder shot. Getting lazy may cause you to hit the object ball fuller/thinner than intended and ruin your intended position.

There is no right or wrong way to get shape, and you can end up with a shot on the 8 many different ways. But just be sure you don't just shoot the 10 in without knowing what you want the cue ball to do.

From the 3 ball position, it looks like about a 1/4 to 1/2 ball hit on the 8 ball with natural roll will result with a fairly good position.

If you ended up following back into the rail then you used too much stroke. I hit this with a high ball but a very soft stroke. Hit the 10 thin enough that you will hit that end rail and come back up table.

I like the 2 rails too but, again, depending on how you stroke that and how thick/thin you hit it, along with how much spin you use, the CB can get away from you pretty easily on that shot. I prefer the 1 rail straight up the table on this one......and I hit this one pretty good.

practice that 1 railer a little because it's easy to hit too full and end up below the 8......which will leave a side pocket shot but I much prefer to go for a corner.
