Need help on this shot.

Hey guys, I was playing some low dollar sets of 8 ball at the bar last night and this came up. 10 in the corner and 8 on the spot or near it. I added balls 1 thru 5 to simulate cue ball position and it would be an easier reference point if anyone has any tips on the moving the cue ball easier. I found draw difficult because of the force needed and that makes it hard to get a good shot on the 8. I was shooting from the 3 ball is and ended up using follow but the cueball spun into the rail to much and I ended up with a bank that I missed. Just looking for some advice on these type of shots

Also guys how do you shoot this shot, I'm struggling on cue ball movement.
The placement of the cueball could be anywhere around that area but this shot also came up and I was unsure how to shoot it.

For me it really depends on the table that you are on and how deep in the ten is. But as you said you were in a bar so I will assume you were on a barbox. If you want to play it safe just come off the rail and shoot the 8 in the side. From the 3 4 5 postitions I would try to cut the ten on the left side and just go straight up one rail maybe spin it off the top rail as well. From the 1 2 spots I would go 2 rails on the other side probably with a little low. One thing to pay attention to is how thin you are cutting the ten ball. Since it's hanging especially, so you dont over run the shot, or under run for that matter.

The second shot I would try to just bank on a bar table. But on a tight nine just try to leave whitey on the end rail and the ten on the opposite end hopefully.
 
Shots

From the 3 position, cut the 10 on the skinny side with upper right english to stay on that side for a shot on the 8 in the other corner.

OR, from 3 position, shoot the 10 in thick, and use lots of low left english to come 2 rails to shoot it in the same corner on the 8.

You're 2nd shot, everyone has trouble with that shot. I would bank it short to the cross corner, and bring it back to rest on end rail in the center or a little more than center, and hold the cue ball right there for a safety.
 
Here is one I have been trying to practice. I still cannot shoot it with any repeatability, but I learned of it in the "Pro Book" by Bob Henning.

To the OP, aim is more critical than english. From the 3,4,5 position and if the OB is very close to the pocket. Just hit it thin with no english and come back up to shoot in the other corner. Its much easier and english just interfears with aim. From the 1,2 position I'd use left only with a fuller hit and play the 8 in the same pocket. Its about control so don't do any more with the c/b than necessary. Rely on good aim because how full you hit this shot is the critical factor. It is the most under estimated shot.
