Need help to ID an older Meucci

Hello!

I'm hoping that someone here can help me identify the model of Meucci cue that I own. I purchased it about 12 years ago as a "used Meucci" and never had any details from the cue shop where I purchased it.

Here's what I know:

  • It's prior to 1990 based on the older butt-cap logo style
  • I've contacted Meucci but they couldn't ID it from their records
  • The only other cue that matches its ringwork is the BH-5
  • I <3 this cue like no other I've played with - it's like buttah

I've searched through google images, looked through the Meucci archive pictures at budegtcues.com and meuccicues.com and have yet to find a picture of my cue.

Hopefully someone here can help me!

Click the thumbnail for a full size picture. I can also take additional photos if necessary.

Overview

Butt-cap 1

Butt-cap 2

Sleeve Work

Joint Collar Work

Any information you can provide would be amazingly helpful!

Thanks!!!

- Jim

I have the same cue.

Same story here

Sent pictures to Meucci a few years ago and they could not put a model number on it.

Good luck

After some more research, here are things that we know it's *not*:

It's not a BH-5 - the joint collar and butt-cap collar details are right but the butt sleeve and color of the points is wrong. Also, no Buddy Hall on the butt-cap. The black-on-white chain style is a perfect match though.

It's not a LH-2 from the 1st LH series - Everything looks right except for the joint collar and butt-cap collar. Should be the joint collar and butt-cap collar of the LH-5 instead. Also, the points may not be the right color and no Hubbart on the butt-cap.

It's not a 84-4 (1st or 2nd Edition) - Same reason why it's not the LH2. This is the answer that most people go with though it's not 100% correct.

Here's a close-up of an 84-4 that sold on ebay:

you can see the difference with my type of cue that sold on ebay:

Maybe it's a hybrid? Maybe there was an issue with an early production run of the 84-4 and they couldn't keep that "black on white chain" collar? I did see Scott's thread on here from a couple years ago ... I guess it's worth re-visiting every once in a while to see if any newer information has popped up.
