ok I am trying to establish a reference point for motor tuning can any one tell me for a starting poine where thier motor tuning settings are set to on thier taif or breeze machine in mach 3?

motor tuning

I have a Taig and never needed to do anything more than follow the optimization steps provided by Mach 3, no motor tuning was needed at all and I have also had good successs with a laptop, they actually recommend a desktop.

What is the issue??? Is the mill stopping, even when doing rapid moves.

Well the steppers are stuttering they are not smooth like you would expect all the axis are turning but I am at the following getting a semi smooth turn but its slow and not totally smooth
motor tuning this was last setting where it had least stutter in motors same in all 3 axis

steps per 40000
velocity 5
acceleration 2
step pulse 2
dir pulse 1

320 Steps For 4th Axis 1000 Acceleration

Velocity Is 60
This Should Work The 4th Axis Just Fine

Thanks Guys for all the help. After all the hassle with my steppers stuttering. I nailed down the issue to the CNC PC Parallel port even though set to EPP and PC Specs was well within range, There was some issue with that machine working with EPP mode. I even tried an PCI Parallel card designed for EPP use and no luck. So yesterday I went to our Local Computer Parts USA and built an new Intel based Machine from scratch. Win XP Pro, intel Core Duo 2.4ghz 800mhx FSB 2gb Ram. Anyway got windows loaded and immediately installed Mach3 I ran the driver test and it was sucessful. I dropped my xls file in mach 3 turned on the control, hit reset in Mach 3 and the machine ran smooth as butter. :) Anyway guys thanks for the help it was not the setting after all just a PC issue easily resolved.
