Does anyone have a high resolution picture of Fred Mali we could use in the magazines for his hall of fame induction article. I need this ASAP.

Fred Mali

Mary Kenniston sent me this within minutes of requesting it.
Cuemakers Pete Balner (Palmer) & Fred Mali - 1998.
Please credit Pool & Billiard Magazine if you use it.
(I magnified the picture 1000% and it still looked sharp to me.)

I don't think this one will work as most magazines are not going to want to credit another magazine for the picture.

1) If a photo has a credit attached in any publication, it is almost always the photographer, not the name of the publication. So if that credit exists at the source then it is probably the correct credit to apply.

2) Credit for any given photo does not have to be "prominent", and does not have to appear adjacent to the photo; many publications print photo credits elsewhere within the book (magazine, pamphlet, etc.), so it's not like anyone will notice the credit and rush out to buy the other magazine.

3) Copyright only exists with the actual "art" produced (or copies thereof). An artist's pencil-sketch rendering of Fred, even if taken directly from this photo, is not unethical and is not subject to credit requirements or royalties. I realize this may cost a little money to pay an artist, but perhaps a phone call to Katrina Rubino or Tracy [Dunham} Bender is in order.
