need some help from you Mass pool players

lookin for action in boston

I've played there twice. Not a bad location and facility, but the last time I was there, several years ago, the tables were in pretty poor condition. Somebody I know who plays there regularly said that an effort was being made to fix them up, I don't know how successful they were.
I'd say it is about 20 minutes to Renaisance in Quincy, mostly highway driving. A little tricky to find the place once in Quincy because it's kind of tucked away in the heart of a bldg (an old downtown Sears killed by the suburban malls). We can get you there though.
What is the event? Is it the New England Ladies Tour or something like that? I've a friend who plays in that and maybe I'd drop over, surprise her, and meet you. I work away from home weekdays so I like to hang around home on weekends, you know say "Hi" to the wife and practice, but I do leave it now and again.
If you're looking for action my guess is Renaissance is a better bet than Mad Maggie's. If you're looking for action, I'm a dry well, just ask Dave from Boston. :D

there isnt a poolplayer in boston that visits this forum, but i know a few if there is any REAL action!!

catscradle and DDKoop thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed playing some 8 ball with you catscradle. How to do it again sometime.

Thanks
Bora

Quincy is a bit of a drive from Salem, it was Salem if I remember right. It isn't far as the crow flies, but you have to go through Boston or around Boston. Renaissance might be worth the drive though, it depends on how it winds up under the new ownership, Koop may be better able to speak to how it's going now. An easier drive from Salem may be to Country Club in Chelmsford, really good players there too. And there is a place in Peabody whose name I can't remember (but it's next to tha "Golden Banana" a strip club), it has quite a few 3 cushion tables. Then there is Brighton Billiards in Brighton (which is really Boston).
Get in touch when you arrive and bring along a few Dennis Searing cues as introductory gifts. :D
Steve.
You're getting your Golden Banana mixed up with the Cabaret :)
It's World Class Billiards that is right next to the Cabaret, and that does have world class 3c equipment, and Mazin Shooni, who elevates the 3c level there.

There is also another room just further north on route 1 called the Country Cue, also on the same south-bound side of route 1, which is a divided highway type street, so you have to go past to the next exit and come back down coming from the south -- doing which you pass the Golden Banana -- if it is still there. Supposedly they have been offering very low hourly rates, which has siffoned off players from other rooms lately.

I will keep you informed...the Searings will be a plus I'm sure, HAHAHAHA.

Thanks for the corrections and info.

My pleasure playing some with you also. If you're up this way again let me know and the next time I'm down towards CT I'll let you know. Maybe we can find a table where the balls don't fall through holes in the pockets.

Bora,

Nice to have met you too. Next time I won't be in such a hurry and actually play a few games with you.

Thanks for letting me get a couple of test hits in with my new cue. I went out that night and played with it. Awesome cue!

Koop

P.S. How did your friend do in the tournament?

No way Koop, Dave wouldn't mess with somebody's action on his deathbed. He'll leave the two of them to figure it out for themselves.

I agree... who knows it might not be a real name
