need tip hardness recommendation

I play with a 314-2 with a Tiger Everest laminated tip. I've noticed that I really like the feel of it when it is just about used up and ready to be replaced. It is a firmer feel to me. (Side height just higher than the red indicator line built into the tip.)

What would you recommend if I wanted to try and recreate that feeling with a new tip? I think I want something a bit harder but don't know which tip would be best.

Any recommendations? I know Kaumui and Moori are good tips but what hardness should I get? Also, would a solid LePro or water buffalo tip be a good firmer tip?

Thanks.

I love a soft tip, preferrably Blue Diamond, after it's mashed down and hardened.

The bet playing hard tip I have ever used and is VERY close to what you're asking for is, Hercules Hard. Great tip.

Kamui black mediums are great with 314-2's - it makes it feel like a proper shaft. I hate Everests on a Pred with a passion. Soft, mushy, yuck.

Some people like to have a brand new tip whittled way down when it's being installed, maybe to simulate what you're talking about. They don't like the feel of a brand new tip. If you go to a billiards shop, tell whoever is putting on your tip to whittle or trim some of the tip off.

You probably don't want to shoot with a layered tip of you take this approach. I personally love Tiger products. I have Tiger sniper tips on both shafts of my shooting cue and one shaft of my break cue (a tiger shaft).

I don't think the hardness of the tip would matter much for what you are trying to do. I think you just want to have the new tip whittled down before you ever shoot with it.
