Need tips on how to properly clean wrap on cue without taking it to a professional?

I posted this thread to get a few good quality tips on how to properly clean my cue's irish linen wrap without taking it to a professional to do the work (keep in mind that I have never cleaned a wrap before). I also would like to know if anyone here on AZbilliards knows of a way to remove the smokey smell from the irish linen wrap on the cue? Any and all tips are greatly appreciated!

The best thing that I have found with out putting it on a lathe and cleaning it that way is a bounce dryer sheet it does the trick for me...
