New 1P Rules For The Derby City Classic

I think a good guideline would be to take some kind of action if the players fail to finish a game each half hour. Don't wait for disaster to happen. Don't just tell them at 3 hours the match is done.

I wouldn't be that TD under any circumstances or any amount of money because the players sloth would be made his problem.

Time limit is one rule, it's clear, no debating it.

The one that's behind can make a come back play and win or he can lose.
Its not gambling, its tournament play.

About a month ago I decide to be the TD for an eight-man 1pocket tournament at my local room (doing another in January).

Before the event I called up my good bud and TD/room owner extraordinaire, John Lavin of Red Shoes up in Chicago, and I asked him, "How do I handle slow play?" And John said, "At the players meeting you say, 'Slow play will not be tolerated -- I am the sole arbiter of what constitutes slow play. You all know where you pocket is -- shoot at it. If anyone has a problem with that now is the time to bail.'"

Worked like a charm : -)
