Cue is sold, thank you

Here's an elegant 8-point Ariel Carmeli tribute cue that incorporates classic design elements from master cuemaker Bill Stroud, and to a lesser degree Gus Szamboti and George Balabushska.

It has 4 Gabon ebony long points with 4 veneers (blk, red, blu, white) and 4 short points of stained bubinga into stained hard curly maple. The cue has flat face ivory joint, 3/8-10 pin. Premium white maple shafts 13.1mm (3.99, 4.02oz.) with ivory ferrules and Triangle tips. Has old school smooth black calfskin wrap. Adorned with 32 slotted diamonds/ dot inlays of brilliant MOP. Has 4 stained rear curly maple windows and ivory/dash deco rings at abcde. Cue weighs 19.32/19.35oz. Cue will play firm in the neighborhood of South West stiffness. $2,200 is list. Now $1980.00. Month of June special pricing: $1870.00 including 2nd day shipping in CONUS! Thanks for looking.

photo of rear...really a classy cue that should be a great player. The cue balances at 19" from bottom of buttcap.

wow martin, these are some NICE carmeli's you are getting, i cant see them making it more then 2 weeks on your website! ;)

Another nice one, not a typical Carmeli either, I never see any with delrin buttcaps or 1 inch ivory joints

I like the cue overall. I think it would have looked better with the other style buttcaps he uses.

Thanks guys...Ariel will be glad to hear it. Ariel's cues are made to play well...and they do. Good to see you post again here Oscar. I'd like you to try my Ariel the next time I see you. BTW, I'll have a Carmeli demo cue available for test driving next week (with choice of either 12.95 or 12.75mm shaft--more on that another time).

Bad ass cue Martin. I think I like it as much as Dave H's AC. Bet that cue plays amazing.

bump for an unoriginal design. way to go ariel.

Brian <-------------- wondering what's up with the Ariel Stouboti and the HJ Carmelis?!?!

Brian, the retro styled Ariel Carmeli cues I have are solely my design. More AC cues with classic designs will be made for me because I like them and many other people like pool cues with diamonds, dots, and windows too. The hype and humorous cue titles are also mine. Ariel had nothing to do with that.

FYI, The guy you attempted to run off from an Ariel cue about a year ago (in an AZB thread) ended up buying the cue anyway. We've heard back from the owner several times and he continues to be very pleased with his AC cue purchase! Have a good one my friend.

Martin-

It never ceases to amaze me how personally you take these posts. Never once did I say a single thing about you. I simply said in this post (and several others) that I have found of Ariel's work unimpressive. Now, call me crazy but I like to think that I have that right. I like to think that I have the right to formulate my own opinions and share them as well. And when the body of work that I am passing comment on is NOT yours, I for one am having a hard time figuring out why it seems to hurt you so much.

I'm glad that the individual you sold your Carmeli to has repeatedly contacted you to tell you how pleased he is with his cue. I could probably make a sandwhich of hagas and vegemite and find someone out there who will swear by it! That doesn't mean I created a classic. Remember Martin. Taste is not an issue of "right or wrong". You have your taste and I have mine. As this thread (and several others have proven) they are drastically different. And there is nothing wrong with that. So just take my first post in this thread for what it is: a free bump for a cue you are trying to sell - regardless of whether or not I like it.

Take it easy Martin.

As previously mentioned, I have no problem at all with your expressing your likes, dislikes and preferences. I have mine too and that is what the forum is for. I won't be passive though about you or anyone else bashing Ariel or any other cuemaker I represent. In this "George Strouboti" instance, for doing something your cuemaker heroes do (classic design). I'm a friend Ariels and dealer of his cues. I have nothing but respect for his knowledge and cuemaking skills. My background in fine cues goes back to the early 70's when there were only a handful of custom cuemakers. That's it in a nutshell. :)

Remember in my last post how I said "it never ceases to amaze me..."? Well, I'm done being amazed. At this point, it seems rather clear that you are either not reading what I put down in black and white right in front of you or you are just not understanding it.

To say that I am bashing Ariel is a bit of a stretch. I mean, if you scroll up, you'll see that there are the EXACT words I posted:

"I have found of Ariel's work unimpressive." (that's right! cut and pasted to include the typo and everything!)

Martin, this is an expression of one's opinion. It is NOT a bash or another's body of work. If I were to bash Ariel's body of work, I would be saying something much more harsh than that. So take it easy Martin. Go ahead an continue to collect/deal/endorse/represent/admire the "fine cues" you've been handling since the 70's. But remember: Not everyone is going to find the product you sell to be the holy grail. Surely you don't think you can take issue with every one of those individuals. ...do you?

I have no problem at all with opinions Brian as long as they are not downright degrading or ongoing negative comments directed at the cumakers I represent. Sometimes, I would choose not to post anything. This time I did. The comments you made here and previously got me off the bench. I don't like the design of all the cues produced by my or other top makers either. There are lots of excellent pool cues being made today by many, many makers. I'd love to deal cues from other makers whose work I like including some of your heroes.

Martin
