Just bought the cheapest gilbert player you can buy. I've never read a bad word about Gilbert or his cues. It is simple and perfect. Thought I may get an LD shaft for it but it shoots so well with his standard shaft that I won't be. It's point and shoot as it is. I tried up to 2 tips of side English. Goes where I aim.

Thing is, the rings catch light without being gaudy. The wood has just enough swirl to make it nice. He is an artisan

I've only had a jump/break from him but even that had just perfect fit and finish. If he puts out that quality of a product for a $500ish jump/break cue....I have no doubt his playing cues are really nice. He's on the short list of cue makers I always consider when looking at cues

I liked this cue so well and considered it such a value that I purchased a bacote jump break. I must say the high quality bacote that Gilbert uses as well as the birdseye maple makes a breathtaking cue. The jump break performs very well too. Full splice. Unbelievable. Many thx to Brian at J&J cues.
