Hello! We now have a new synthetic polymer resin playing tip we call Recoil. You can find them on our website and we are offering a FREE soft tip (just pay the shipping cost) for players who want to try them and let us know what you think. Use code RECOIL at checkout on our website. If you'd prefer a Medium or Hard, use code RECOIL50 to get 50% off for the next 10 days. These tips do not flatten, harden, compress, or glaze and play as well as any premium leather market tip! The soft may mushroom slightly if you hit hard but the Medium and Hard will NEVER mushroom or lose their shape! Feel free to call us or post any questions you may have here. We have been playing with wood cues with a piece of leather glued to the end for hundreds of years! Finally, we have carbon fiber shafts that outperform wood and we're excited to be the first to have a replacement for the most inconsistent part of the game. We truly believe this is a literal game-changer!

What is the thickness and do players usually thin them down like a leather tip?

What is the thickness and do players usually thin them down like a leather tip?
Thickness is 7mm and they will play the same if you leave them tall or trim them lower. Because they are not leather they will not have the same characteristics as leather. This means they will not harden as you wear them down and if you do prefer them lower it will not make the hit harder. One of the biggest advantages is if you are able to wear one out (We have been testing for over 1 year and have not seen any sign of wear yet) or if you put another on your backup shaft they will always play exactly the same. They are manufactured to a specific feel and have none of the inconsistencies you encounter with leather.

A question I have had since I first heard of these tips is "what about chalk, do you still use it?"

Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk
These tips will shape and scuff like leather and you will find they grip and hold chalk better than leather. We recommend using a tip pik (needles) or course grit type of shaper to texture them to hold chalk. Tip tappers and "file" type scuffers do not work well.

What adhesive is recommended and how long have they been field tested for reliability?
Same as you would use for leather tips. I use 2P-10 thick but any quality CA glue will work fine and we've found this material bonds better than leather and we have had 0 complaints about them popping off.
I have about 50+ local players that have been testing them for around a year. None of them have asked to switch back to leather and many have since put them on all their cues and extra shafts. I had one player in Canada test them and he said "They do everything you claim but I still like leather better" So... we know we won't have a 100% satisfaction rate but the overwhelming response has been extremely positive.

I will be posting an installation video on YouTube soon. I will provide a link when I do. For all the installers out there, these tips will save 50% installation time as you will not need to sand, polish and burnish when installing. Just cut them close to the ferrule with the cutter on your lathe, and then make your final cut flush to the ferrule with a sharp utility blade and they will cut smooth and shiny.

Ha! I just had one of these put on my Tad a couple of weeks ago. So far so good! Cue hit sounds a little different but so far that’s the biggest difference.

Please don't take this in a negative way, but it sounds as though, at least for the medium and hard, you seem to be making a tip that pretty much never has to be replaced?

That was a big concern when we developed this tip. We thought do we launch a product that will never need to be replaced and hurt us financially in the long run or do we bring something truly innovative that many have tried but nobody has succeeded in doing before? We feel that all players want is a tip that doesn't mushroom, doesn't harden, doesn't flatten, doesn't compress, doesn't glaze, doesn't wear, but still grips, holds chalk, delivers tremendous power, spin, and control so we decided this tip is too good not to launch! Our other thought was if it never wears out could we charge $100+ for it? I'd say if someone will pay $30 for a cube of chalk they'd pay $100 for a tip this good. However, we want everyone to be able to afford it so we made them $29.95 to stay competitive with the premium pigskin tips. A side market soon became clear as there are no vegan tip options and since all the best tips are pigskin this is a fantastic option for Muslim players that won't use pigskin.
